Endemol have faced harsh criticism today as it emerged that they have made a show for Dutch TV in which the winner will receive a kidney transplant.
The show will focus on a terminally ill woman who has to choose one of three competitors to receive her kidney in a transplant. Viewers will be allowed to text in their advice and recommendations to the show.
The 37-year-old donor, identified only as Lisa, will make her choice based on the contestants’ history, profile and conversation with their family and friends. The show will air in The Netherlands this week.
The Dutch donor authority has condemned the show, as have kidney specialists in the UK. Read more & comment »

Just one day before the launch of Big Brother 8 and the surprise could all be thrown into disarray as one showbiz website publishes a list of housemates names. They claim the list comes from deep within the Endemol and Channel 4 camp, and it would be no surprise after many of last years contestant’s names were leaked in the same way.

Live on Sunday night’s final episode of Castaway on BBC One, Scotsman Jonathan Shearer was voted the ultimate Castaway by viewers of the series.
He receives a month long, tailor-made trip around New Zealand for himself and a companion.
For the last two weeks of the series, viewers have been able to vote for which Castaway they felt had made the most of the experience.
Those with the fewest votes were Cast Off leaving just four – Francie, Little Al, Jonathan, Catherine – in the final show. Read more & comment »

Big Brother housemates have been thrown into a panic after one of their housemates disappeared. The housemate was hiding out in France before the launch of the show this Wednesday. But his Big Brother minder managed to lose him and could now lose his job as well.

Channel 4 have announced that they will be slashing the cost of voting by phone on this years Big Brother show, in a bid to engage as many viewers as possible.
Channel 4 spokesman, Andy Taylor stated:
“The voting has been fair and transparent throughout Big Brother’s eight years on air, but given the recent focus on the use of premium rate phone lines on TV we want to ensure the audience has absolute confidence in the evictions, which are absolutely integral to the show’s success. The Sun has reported that Graham Norton has been lined up to present a new BBC reality TV show, which will search for the star of the stage and screen classic, Saturday Night Fever.
Keen to replicate the popularity of their current search for a star in Any Dream Will Do, reports suggest that BBC1 chief Peter Fincham is already in talks with Saturday Night Fever’s producer Robert Stigwood, 73, who owns the rights.
A BBC source said: “He’s very keen to get the show, it would get everyone strutting around their living rooms on Saturday nights.
“It’s iconic, everybody knows the Bee Gees hits.”
