WIFE SWAP: Anna Courtenay Swaps With Kara Darby-Dhyan

After last week’s celebrity opener, the new series of BAFTA-award-winning Wife Swap continues with an ex-pat episode: Marbella socialite Anna Courtenay and her husband Chris swap places with “back-to-nature” Dan and Kara Darby-Dhyan, who live on an eco-friendly boat.

How does Anna cope with getting her hands dirty tending the land, no modern conveniences and living off a mere six-Euro weekly budget? And how does Kara handle “sleeping with the enemy” as she has to endure everything she has come to despise about modern life?

The One And Only: No Knickers For Tom Jones

BBC killjoys have banned members of the The One And Only audience, from throwing knickers at Tom Jones lookalike, Simon Abbotts.

The bosses are said to be worried that Simon may trip on a pair of knickers whilst performing, but his family think it’s health and safety gone mad!

His mum Val told The Sun: “We were a bit disappointed. It’s health and safety gone mad. For as long as he’s been impersonating Tom, Simon’s never once slipped up on any stray item of underwear.”

The Choir – Boys Don’t Sing

The Choir: BBC2

Following the Bafta Award-winning success of The Choir, the sequel The Choir – Boys Don’t Sing returns to BBC Two this week.

Featuring the highs and lows of ever-patient choirmaster Gareth Malone, the series follows Gareth as he tackles, in his usual head-on way, the task of teaching choral singing in Lancaster School – a large boys’-only state school in Leicester.

Gareth has dreams of involving the whole school and leading a 100-strong, all-boys’ choir out on the stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The problem is, at Lancaster, singing in assembly was abandoned in the Seventies, and most of the boys who attend think singing is definitely best left for the girls. Read more & comment »

Is Big Brother Over?

Big Brother 2007 Logo

British bookies are so convinced that Channel 4 are about to cancel Big Brother, that they have slashed the odds on this summer’s 2008 series being the last.

The latest BB spinoff, Celebrity Hijack ended last night with an average of only 600,000 watching the series, 10% of the viewers who watched the final two years ago.

Ladbrokes spokesman Nick Weinberg told The Daily star: “Celebrity Hijack has hardly captured the imagination of punters.” Read more & comment »

John Loughton Wins Celebrity Hijack

Celebrity Hijack - John

In the most predictable reality TV result ever, John Loughton has won E4 TV show, Celebrity Hijack.

The 20 year old politician won £50,000 after receiving 54% of the vote in the final of the show, beating circus performer Emilia Arata, 18.

I suppose John was hoping that taking part in the show would boost his political career and raise his profile, but given that next to no one watched the show, I don’t fancy his chances!
