Fresh from the cobbles of Coronation Street, actress Zaraah Abrahams joined Dancing on Ice this week, to replace GMTV’s Michael Underwood who crashed out of the competition after breaking his ankle during training.
Platinum selling group Westlife performed on the show as Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean danced to their hit song “World of Our Own”. The compulsory manoeuvre for all the contestants this week was the pairs spin.
It was an emotional night, and Michael and his skating partner Melanie came back onto the show to be interviewed and both of them as well as Jayne Torvill broke down in tears when they watched the tape of Michael’s accident.
Meanwhile, after doing the splits during her routine, Samantha aggravated a hamstring injury she already had and was taken off the rink after her routine for immediate physio treatment. Read more & comment »

Coronation Street star Zaraah Abrahams is the latest contestant in ITV1’s Dancing on Ice, replacing GMTV’s Michael Underwood who was forced to pull out of the competition earlier this week after breaking his ankle.
Twenty year old Zaraah is best known for playing factory girl Joanna Jackson on the Street and has now taken up a role as school girl Michaela in the BBC1 drama Waterloo Road.
Having been practicing on the ice as a stand-in since November, Zaraah nevertheless had mixed feelings when she took the call and heard she was in the competition.
“I always said I’d only ever want to go in if someone couldn’t take the pressure of the competition not if someone hurt themselves. I really loved watching Michael and ironically he is the only one of the contestants I knew already, so I couldn’t believe it when I heard I would be replacing him.” Read more & comment »

Hell hath no fury like an angry chef, and no chef has a sharper temper than Gordon Ramsay when things go wrong in the kitchen. Now Gordon has taken Kitchen Nightmares across America, giving some of the worst restaurants Stateside a wake-up call they’ll never forget.
The venue for this week’s programme is the Seascape restaurant in the seaside village of Islip in Long Island, New York. Owner Peter Matthews has been struggling for seven years to make the business viable and now – nearly $1,000,000 in debt – he’s nearly reached the end of the line. Meanwhile head chef Doug presides over a kitchen where unprotected meat and fish sit next to mouldy pesto jars, all surrounded by walls hidden in layers of grease so thick that they need to be scraped clean. Cue Gordon, whose radical plan to resuscitate Seascape requires an instant shutdown for staff and diners alike. Will his clean sweep bring it back to life, or is Seascape already past saving?
