Adam Lambert dropped by Good Morning America after racy AMA performance

For his first televised performance since the Season Eight finale of American Idol, Adam Lambert decided to go all out and shock the public in the style of Britney Spears.

Adam was the talk of last night’s American Music Awards after a risque performance which involved him snogging the face off a male member of his band.

No surprise then that ABC’s Good Morning America pulled the plug on his planned performance, a fact which Adam finds a little hypocritical.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest about the issue, Adam said:

“I don’t feel I owe anyone an apology for anything. I performed, it was late night TV, I did something that female performers have been doing for years, no different. It’s just the fact that I’m me and it’s a little different for people. It’s really not that big of a deal.”

“I’m not a babysitter, I’m a performer.”

He added:

“I do think there’s a slight double standard. We’ve seen female pop performers doing extremely sexual routines for years and all of the sudden a guy does it and it’s crazy.”

On his cancelled GMA performance he concluded:

“Obviously I respect their decision, they gotta do what they gotta do. It’s too bad, I think there were a lot of fans who were excited to come see me.”

“They probably had a lot of pressure coming at them from certain people who weren’t happy about it. I respect their decision – I don’t necessarily agree with it, but they need to do what they need to do.”

    This is disgusting!
What happened when Britney kissed Madonna?
She certainly didn’t have all her offers and all her promotions on shows cancelled.
I totally agree with Adam. There is a HUGE double Standard and I actually admire him so much for trying to break down Americas insecurities about provocative males.

Two of Americas biggest stars are possibly the most provocative artists in the world and yet they get away with it. Why? I think it’s awful and American TV Execs need to open their minds just a little bit and get over the prejudices that have clearly influenced the decision to pull Adam from the shows line-up.

I for one was certainly looking forward to seeing what he does next.
