American Idol: Adam Lambert says LSD is ‘one method of finding yourself’

We love Adam Lambert and the fact that he has always courted controversy and his recent comments on drug use may have landed him in hot water again.

The For Your Entertainment singer mentioned in an interview with Metro that taking LSD helped him to succeed on American Idol last year.

When asked if he would advise other people to use the hallucinogenic drug, he said: “Sure, it’s one method of finding yourself.

“My trip led me to some epiphanies about who I was as a performer, what I wanted to do and how I needed to create my own opportunities.”

“When I got home, I started writing music with other people and went to the Idol audition.

“The vision was about finding opportunities. I wasn’t sitting in the desert in rave-wear thinking about Simon Cowell when I was on acid.”

We are just waiting for the backlash to begin!

Oh get real people! Adam Lambert is NOT PROMOTING DRUG USE! How pathetic are you guys that you have to stretch out what he says and manipulate his words to create controversy and a news article?!! Are you guys that desperate for attention? Why not focus on all the good he is doing for school kids with his donations and charity work? Instead you have to make it sound like he is a druggie. You know all of my friends ages 10 to even the adults are smart enough to see thru the media’s stupidity. We see Adam Lambert as role model. He has struggled, he has made mistakes, he stumbles, he falls, he wins roles, he looses roles; and yet he still gets up and tries again. He isn’t someone who has gotten where he is at today by ease. He is the Ugly Duckling success story. He is a champion! He shows us youth that no matter what you have to believe in yourself and work hard for your dream. There are always bumps in the road. The man is surrounded by controversy and personal attacks and yet he doesn’t back down. He is entitled to his personal thoughts on life as is everyone. Me and my friends are not stupid we know drugs are bad, just like cigarettes or alcohol. How come you don’t talk about how Adam promotes safe sex like Leno and he didn’t have that fun banter on Leno’s show? Adam takes creative risks. He changes his look daily. He compliments most artists and no every kid I know only liked one Susan song on her debut CD so Adam isn’t alone. Yes almost everyone, EVERYONE I know thinks Gene Simmons should have shut his trap about bashing on Adam and we back Adam. Love Adam Lambert for saying, when asked that what is happening to Tiger Woods is private and none of our business. He was one of the first and very few stars to take a stand for Tiger Woods. That was an unpopular thing to do but he did it instead of jumping on the bash Tiger Woods deal. He tried to stop the Johhny Weir bashing too by redirecting popular opinion and pointing out, Hey Johnny Weir is a Trailblazer in his sport! Not a popular thing at the time as most of the ice skating industry was slamming Johnny Weir’s flare. Instead Adam Lambert said uh, look again Johnny Weir is changing the look of male figure skating and it is awesome. I personally think it took someone like Adam Lambert to point out Johnny Weir is breathing new life into that sport. It is time we heard more of Adam Lambert on the radio and not at 5 am or at 11pm. I want to hear him and his songs throughout the day. Lift the band on his music it is beautiful and powerful and embraces diversity. We hear about acceptance all the time in school and yet society doesn’t really hold this to be true. There are very few true role models out there for us. Guys like Adam Lambert and Johnny Weir who dare to be different and dare to do their own thing, take risks, be proud those are my inspirations in life. So stop trying to paint a negative picture of Adam Lambert. Look at the positive and not try to build a negative. It makes the media look bad and ignorant!

Oh for goodness sake! This is all of the rock and roll world as far as I am concerned. I mean really, a great movie was made about Jimmy Morrison and “The Doors” all based on sex, drugs, and even tripping out on a desert. Is there anyone who doesn’t love Jimmy Morrison? Adam is just being honest about his experiences in life. You ask and he answers, honestly and directly.

The original article from which this was taken was a spoiler! Do all websites always repeat whatever they see on the internet without checking provenance?

Let me say this LOUD and CLEAR – The Metro article twisted words for sensationalism and now rags like this are further twisting his words to sensationalize the issue. He does not advocate for people to use drugs – period!

Get a grip, and people, wise up and stop being such Lemmings to this crap. And if everyone that has ever tried a drug of some sort spoke up in honesty he would not be the lone dog out there getting ragged on for experimentation in the past. Adam is a talented, humble and sexy man. He will prevail this bull sh!t.!

What ever happened to credible journalism? Maybe you should get your facts straight before you print a slanderous article about someone. Pathetic. Adam does not promote drug use and has even said so in televised interviews…maybe you should report on that! Oh, but what fun would that be?

  6. Art Gecko says:

This is NOT what Adam said! Come on people… get your quotes straight… & put them in context please! I thought better of the UK press… this is worthy of the worst of our N.A. tabloids!

I hope you people can sleep at night with this piece of crap article you call journalism. Aren’t there enough actually horrid people you can go after and rant aboutt? I mean seriously, you haven’t done ANY research and that is what is so distressing. Adam is a role model, he is NOT advocating drug use. In fact, he is a testament to someone who has made mistakes in the past and has managed to move past them.

I just wish you would choose to not sensationalize information that is from a cut and paste source, not reading your articles anymore :(
