American Idol 2009: Simon Calls Tiffany Shedd A Donkey!

Simon Cowell - X Factor

With American Idol rolling into Kentucky this Friday on ITV2, the auditions continue from the weird wacky to the sublime making their way to Hollywood and Simon Cowell receives one of the most chilling threats he has ever received on the show.

18 year-old Tiffany Shedd strolls into the audition room looking confident she has the talent to win the Golden Ticket she craves. However, within seconds of unleashing her vocals on the judges, Simon Cowell brings her back down to Earth with a great bump, telling her “you’re like a donkey in a crowd of 22 horses.”

Shortly after, Mark Mudd, 25, reveals he ‘almost died five times’ before his audition sees the death of his bid for Idol success as the judges deliver a firm ‘no’. On his way out of the audition room, he delivers a pseudo-threat, telling Simon, “Take care, and be careful.”

Fellow judge Paula Abdul is unnerved, telling him “You don’t say that to people. That’s not a normal thing to say.”

Further highlights include nerdy Ross Plavsic, 26, who decides to DRINK OUT OF PAULA’S STRAW to help his audition – which still proves unsuccessful.

The show finishes with some top talent including 18 year-old Leneshe Young, who sings a song she wrote HERSELF, having been homeless since she was a young child and in and out of shelters all her life. The judges give her the ticket to Hollywood, with Simon eyeing her as the next Leona Lewis.

Cowell, though, remains perplexed by this year’s show, saying: “Is it me or is the show getting weirder this year?”

Watch these clips and more tomorrow night, Friday 23 January at 9pm on ITV2.
