We’ve already heard that Chris Golightly has made it into the American Idol final 24 this year and frankly we’re not surprised. The boy can sing, he looks presentable and he has a story. What else could a producer want?

Chris slightly split the judges with his audition though. An orphan, Chris has been in foster care since he was 18 months old, and has lived with more than 25 families. He sang ‘Stand By Me’ for the panel, and the judges were divided on his potential.

Randy Jackson said, “I like you, man, there’s something very interesting about you.”

Kara DioGuardi said him one of her favorite auditions of the day and that he has a good story.

Simon Cowell thought it was just a nice, old-fashioned audition, and guest judge Katy Perry told Kara, “This is not a Lifetime movie, sweetheart. He has an amazing story, but you have to have talent.”
