American Idol 2010: Didi Benami ‘didn’t expect to go so early’
Outgoing American Idol singer Didi Benami has revealed that she didn’t expect to leave the show at such an early stage.
Admitting to CNN that she was aware she hadn’t given her best performance during R&B week, Benami said:
“I had a feeling. I knew it wasn’t my best performance, so I was ready just in case. I didn’t really expect to go so early in the whole scheme of things.”
Didi also seems to be bearing somewhat of a grudge against Simon Cowell, who hugged her before she departed but still got in one last cutting comment.
Benami said:
“I do remember Simon saying, ‘that’s what happens when you pick the wrong song.’ That was the last thing he said to me, which really kind of hurt. I was like, really?”
“Simon gave me a hug, but it just sucked for him to say that at the end. ”
However it’s not all bad for the singer who once lived out of her car. Didi is thrilled to have made it onto the American Idol tour planned for summer 2010 and is happy with the exposure she gained from Idol. She concluded:
“I’ll have a little break to get a chance to work on my music… and I still get to go on tour and that’s so amazing!”
