Didi Benami decided to audition for American Idol to honour the memory of her best friend.

Her pal died four years ago and Didi told the judges:

“Rebecca is absolutely the reason I pursue music. She believed in me when I didn’t even know if I believed in myself.”

Sounding quite like Norah Jones, Didi sang The Beatles’ “Hey Jude” and finished her rendition by bursting into tears.

I actually thought it was pretty cool,” Randy Jackson told her. “You’ve got range, and it sounded like you had your own kind of sound jumping off.”

Guest judge Avril Lavigne added “I think you have huge potential.”

Did scored four yeses and a ticket to Hollywood.
