We love that American Idol allows its contestants to appear with their own instruments, and have to admit to being slightly more impressed by those real musicians who can sing and play at the same time.

Janell Wheeler, who has been romantically linked to Tim Tebow, impressed the panel with her acoustic take on “American Boy.” We loved her sound and thought she was reminiscent of Shania Twain with a raspier voice.

Ellen DeGeneres really liked her, while Simon Cowell said that her audition was “good.”
