New American Idol judge Ellen DeGeneres has joked that she is trying not to take Simon Cwell’s decision to quit the show, just as she joins personally.

During her American chatshow on Monday, DeGeneres laughed:

“This will be [Cowell's] last season and he announced he’s leaving on my first day. I’m trying not to take it personally,” she said.

She added: “He wanted a change and I wish [him] all the luck in the world hosting The Tonight Show!”

Simon revealed yesterday that this season of American Idol will be his last and in 2011 he will launch X Factor on the Fox network.
