American Idol 2010: Lee Dewyze this year’s dark horse? (VIDEO)

We are starting to think that 23 year old Lee Dewyze may just be a dark horse ready to steal this year’s American Idol crown.

The Chicago singer got rid of his guitar and enchanted the audience with a fantastic rendition of Hinder’s “Lips Of An Angel” on last night’s live show. The judges must have been expecting him to be good as they did award him with the coveted final spot and some cool stars and fun back-drops for his performance.

Randy Jackson liked that Lee is taking chances and coming out of his comfort zone, even though there were some pitch problems. Ellen DeGeneres agreed, saying that she loves his passion and intensity. Kara says it’s a big improvement from last week and added that she can “hear him on the radio right now” because he has a commercial voice and look.

Simon Cowell said that Lee is “head and shoulders above everyone else in the competition,” but added that he looks terrified. “I’m just waiting for you to totally connect, lose your nerves, sing the right song, and sing as good as you can,” he added. “You may be the one to beat.”
