Aaron Kelly is the youngest of our American Idol hopefuls this year and his age caused him problems last week when Kara DioGuardi accused him of singing songs that were too old for him.

In that vein Rolling Stones really shouldn’t have worked for him, but surprisingly it did! On last night’s live show Aaron sang ‘Angie’ for the judges and the audience went wild.

Randy Jackson loved the tender moments in his voice and compared him to Justin Timberlake. Ellen DeGeneres asked if he copied her hairstyle and praised his song choice, saying that his performance really stood out tonight.

Kara DioGuardi called it “very powerful.” Simon Cowell praised him saying “You sang the song within the limits of your vocals … you haven’t got a big voice, but it was in tune mostly and believable, and I think it was one of your strongest performances so far.”
