It looks like poor old Andrew Garcia is never going to live up to his unforgettable audition performance of ‘Straight Up’. Since then he has failed to impress the judges and win the unconditional praise that some other competitors have enjoyed.

On last night’s American Idol show Andrew sang ‘Gimme Shelter’ for the judges and as much as we really wanted to like it, something was missing from the rendition. It just wasn’t convincing or very impressive at all.

Randy Jackson called it ‘pitchy’

Ellen DeGeneres said it was his best performance yet.

Kara DioGuardiexplained that the song is about war and she wanted to feel his emotions and a connection.

Simon Cowell said that Kara is taking things too literally again. He added “I’m somewhere in the middle here,” he says. “You gave it 100% but my gut feeling is you were better in rehearsals… something didn’t quite connect with the song.”
