Simon Cowell wasn’t overly impressed by Crystal Bowersox’s performance on last night’s American Idol, but we loved it!

The folk singer gave a fabulous rendition of Alanis Morrisette’s ‘Hand In My Pocket’, complete with guitar playing and a harmonica solo. We know that she’ll be pigeon holed of she doesn’t move out of her comfortable folk style throughout the competition, but for her first performance we think she rocked!

Randy Jackson loved Crystal, though he wasn’t sure that she chose the right song. Ellen said she would vote for her because she is ‘fresh, however Simon Cowell was concerned by her lack of originality. He said:

“The truth is there are thousands of you doing this outside subway stations everywhere. But I don’t want to be too critical because I really, really like you and I want you to do well.”
