Record producer Steve Lillywhite is making a play for the American Idol judging seat which will become vacant next year.

Simon Cowell has announced that this will be his final series of the talent show and fellow Brit Lillywhite thinks he is just the man for the job. Having previously discovered U2, Simple Minds, Talking Heads and now producing 30 Seconds to Mars, Steve certainly has the experience necessary for the job and as he pointed out he also has the accent.

We had never heard of Steve before listening to his video plea above, but we actually think he might be a good candidate for the job. He certainly knows how to self promote!
