Former American Idol winner Taylor Hicks has chosen Andrew Garcia as his favourite contestant from this year’s bunch of hopefuls.

In a chat with Fox & Friends, in which he talked about his current role in the Broadway production of Grease Hicks said:

“I like Andrew Garcia. You know, he’s a musician.”

This led on to the hosts asking how Taylor felt about the fact that singers are now also allowed to play their own instruments on the TV talent show. The grey haired singer admitted:

“I’m really envious of all the people that get to play instruments,” before breaking into a harmonica solo.

He went on to say:

“Idol’s been great to me ……..All those contestants, all of them are in that zone now with the live band, The cream will soon rise to the top.”
