American Idol reject Alex Lambert gave his first live post Idol performance this week on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

During an interview with the American Idol judge, Alex admitted that he was shocked to get voted off so early but said that he thinks his stage fright played a huge part in his fate. He said:

I was a little bit shocked but I felt like what I did on the show was pretty good. But I have the worst stage fright ever and I just focus on my vocals so much because I am so nervous.

Admitting that he had only played to a crowd of 25 people before taking part in the show, Alex said that his mum made him audition and threatened to take his phone away if he didn’t.
