American Idol 2011: Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina will be happy if the other wins!

Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina have claimed that they are not in competition with one another and both insist that they will be happy if the other wins on this Thurday’s American Idol finale.

The talented pair will sing on Wednesday’s final performance show, before finding out their fate on Thursday’s result episode, however when speaking to reporters at a press conference yesterday, Scotty played down reports about their rivalry saying:

“We’re friends. This isn’t a competition, we’re just singing our hearts out. We’re both going in full steam ahead.”

Lauren completely agreed and added:

“I think whatever is meant to happen will happen. I think if Scotty wins, I’ll be happy for him because he’s one of my best friends.”

The teenage singers should be worrying about their song choices or protecting their voices for what could be the most important night of their lives, but McCreery has confessed that he can’t stop thinking about whether or not he should shave his hair off before the big show.

“This has been the biggest thing on my mind,” the 17-year-old laughed. “Every time I look in the mirror I think, Should I? Should I not? I used to have short hair. That was me and the boys back home. We said, ‘Short hair don’t care.’ I’m torn. If J.Lo cuts it, I might. How many chances do you get to have the most beautiful woman in the world cut your hair? I don’t know. I might. Tune in to see. I still don’t know.”
