American Idol 2011: The lovely Scotty McCreery wins coin toss but still lets Lauren Alaina choose singing order!

What a gentleman!

Scotty McCreery has shown that chivalry is definitely not dead and has allowed his American Idol competitor Lauren Alaina to choose the singing order in next week’s final show.

The 17 year old country singer, from Garner, North Carolina won the toss, as Idol presenter Ryan Seacrest flipped a coin with Scotty’s face on one side and Lauren’s image on the other. However, he then asked Alaina to choose the running order. She wisely opted to sing second, which is always the better slot on any reality TV show. Past seasons have proved that the person who performs last, has a higher chance of winning the season.

We hope that Scotty’s move helps him win votes and that people reward him for his kindness, because when viewers are deciding between the two singers next Wednesday, the last voice they will have heard is Lauren’s and her performance will be most fresh in their mind.

However, the Georgia native will need all the help she can get as young Scotty has been favourite to win the competition for weeks now and much as we love listening to Alaina, we can’t imagine that she’d be popular enough to steal his crown.
