American Idol 2012 Spoilers: Pawn shop worker Phillip Phillips impresses with ‘Superstition’ and ‘Thriller’ (VIDEO)
Phillip Phillips works in a pawn shop, so already he had an interesting story for last night’s American Idol season premiere.
The young singer showed up to audition in Savannah late last year and admitted that he loved working in the interesting shop, but really wants to perform for a living. He was the last person to tryout for the judges that day and from the start, Randy Jackson admitted he had a ‘feeling’ it was going to be good.
The 20 year old launched into a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Superstition’, which was an amazing blues version. He put real power in his voice and you could see that Steve Tyler was hooked by his performance.
Next thing you know and Phillip was whipping out his guitar and playing a rocked up version of Michael Jackson’s Thriller….which was at least original in terms of a talent show audition.
Not only does Phil have a GREAT stage name, but his style is unique.
The judges agreed and quickly awarded him a ticket to Hollywood, but we just hope that America gets him and keeps him in the competition if he reaches the live stages…..
Watch the video below and tell us, do you think Phillip Phillips has what it takes? Leave your comments below.

It was Steven Tyler that “had a feeling” not Randy Jackson.
As for P.Phillips….wow! He’s got my vote!
