Nicki Minaj has insisted that the winner of this year’s series of American Idol will be a girl.
The ‘Starships’ singer has been bigging up girl power in her recent conference call with reporters and when one journalist asked if there is any chance that a boy could win the hit Fox series when it comes to an end later this year, she bluntly insisted “NO,” before adding:
“No. Absolutely not. Not a chance.”
We have to admit her honesty is very refreshing! Minaj wasn’t hating on the boys however and she did admit that she wishes the judges’ save had been used on Curtis Finch recently, and admitted that she would love to collaborate with Burnell Taylor, because he has “that John Legend thing.” But she does think that a lady will take the 2013 crown and predicted that Kree Harrison, Candice Glover, or Angie Miller will triumph.
Meanwhile, in an interview with Rolling Stone Nicki revealed that she has been totally happy with her Idol experience so far and doesn’t think she’s had any bad moments on the series.
She may have been late for a live show and stormed off set when one of her favourite contestants was eliminated but the ‘Superbass’ singer insisted:
“I don’t have a worst ‘Idol’ moment. I’ve been spectacular. Yes, I’m gonna toot my own horn. And my best moment is every single moment. I’ll toot it again.”
She’s glad that she got the chance to show the public what sort of person and artist she really is and continued:
“I feel like my entire life and career I’ve been judged by people who really didn’t know me. I definitely think they probably were right to assume what they had assumed about me, because there was such little to go on. If you only see videos and me being crazy and hearing little things here and there, then obviously you’re not gonna have an idea of who I really am.”
“I’m just happy Idol producers gave me a shot on the show, to show who I really am. I really don’t think – outside of maybe some pink wigs – that there’s anything that separates me from every other woman in America.”
Meanwhile, Nicki’s Idol co star Mariah Carey may be one of music’s biggest divas, but the ‘Vision Of Love’ singer showed her maternal side recently, when she invited a young fan to come and join her on stage at a show in Sydney recently.
The mum of two turned the spotlight from herself during a sell out concert and welcomed a little girl also named Mariah onto the stage, when she performed in Australia recently.
Carey learned that Mariah Cini’s dad named her after his favourite singer when she was born and asked the six year old to join her before a rendition of her track Close My Eyes.
“I’m so excited because I finally get to meet my namesake. I’ve always liked her, from when I was born, basically… Dad always said if she came back (to Australia) we’d go to visit her and I couldn’t believe it. I know I’m one of the luckiest fans in Australia.”
Her father added:
“Mariah Carey is truly a beautiful, genuine person. She’s protective of her fans and she’s not above herself at all. I knew when we were having a baby girl that she would be my Mariah Grace.”
