I think it would be fair to say that I am no fan of Country music. I’ve never liked Garth brooks and before last week’s American Idol show I’d never heard of Randy Travis either. So when I heard that American Idol was going to host a Grand Ole Opry week I wasn’t overly excited about the prospect. However Carrie Underwood’s performance during the results show may just have made me reconsider my thoughts on all things country.

Carrie sang ‘I Told You So’ with last weeks mentor Randy Travis and for me, it really was one of those hair standing on the back of the neck performances. The emotion Carrie put into her voice was astounding and her vocals were effortless. Like Kelly Clarkson the week before her, Carrie is proof that American Idol really can be the birth place from which amazing stars emerge.
