American Idol elimination: judges save Michael Lynche

It was a shocking night on the American Idol results show yesterday. Firstly ‘Teflon’ Tim Urban didn’t even land in the bottom three, but Aaron Kelly, Andrew Garcia and Michael Lynche did.

Ryan Seacrest revealed that Michael had received the least public votes and therefore had just one more chance to sing. A steely-looking Lynche then performed “This Woman’s Work” with gusto as his wife and friends cried in the crowd.

In another shock twist, the judges decided to use their one save card of the season and opted to keep Big Mike on the show.

“The frustrating thing is, we all wish you had done something like that yesterday,” Simon Cowell told him. “This was unanimous, if that’s any comfort.”

“We’ve decided we’re going to see you next week.”

The crowd went wild, Lynche’s wife looked ecstatic and Big Mike lives to sing another day. Though it seems that Randy Jackson was wrong when he said that Michael was at the point where he could afford to take big risks with his song choice, from now on the big man would be well advised to play it a bit more safe!
