American Idol contestants Matt Giraud and Allison Iraheta have vowed to stay humble despite their new found celebrity status.

Giraud told KSFM-TV: “I don’t think any of us really think that we’re celebrities or anything like that. That’s why we still feel honoured to be at the premieres and for people to want our autographs.

“If I meet someone who’s like, ‘I voted for two hours’, that’s amazing to me and I’m like, ‘Really? I don’t even know you!’ It’s amazing to me.

“So we’re just trying to stay humble and I think that when we get out of this bubble we might be a little shocked about how much we’ve affected the world a little bit.”

Giraud’s fellow contestant Allison Iraheta added:

“Thinking about getting off the show and being in the real world again, people are actually going to know us,” she explained. “I’m not used to it. I’m always going to be humble about it like Matt said and just be glad that I made it this far. I’m happy that I’ve had the opportunity to be here.”
