Nick Mitchell, who goes by his flamboyant alter ego Norman Gentle, 27, left the judges LAUGHING and almost SPEECHLESS at his performance on last night’s American idol (it airs tonight on ITV2). He also managed to wow the crowd with an over-the-top performance of “And I Am Telling You” from the Broadway and film hit “Dreamgirls.”

Simon Cowell, despite smiling and laughing throughout, called it “one of the most atrocious performances we’ve ever seen”, with Mitchell biting back, telling him “it takes one to know one, sassy pants.” Though Cowell’s fellow judges agreed with his comments about his vocal performance, Randy Jackson told him “You are one of the most entertaining performers ever.”
