American idol: Simon Cowell Wanted Melinda Doolittle To Win

Jordin Sparks, a talented seventeen year old may have been the youngest person to have won American idol so far, but she hasn’t got the full backing of Mr Simon Cowell.

Simon admitted this week to ABC news that he believes Melinda Doolittle should have walked away with the winners title.

“I said Melinda should’ve won,” he said to ABC. “She tried the hardest, was consistently the best, and had the best voice…I think about it now, whether I should’ve endorsed her as much as I should’ve done,” he said. “I think it was the right thing to do.”

    A release date has been set for her upcoming album. Coming Back To You will drop on February 3 2009, and it promises to be an eclectic mix of blues, classic R&B and jazz.

    The first single, “It’s Your Love” will be released to radio soon.
