Von Smith sang Marvin Gaye’s “You’re All I Need to Get By” on last night’s American Idol and in all did quite well.

I’m not sure if his performance was quite good enough to see him through to the final twelve, he also won’t be helped by the fact that he opened the show meaning that twelve contestants later he will most likely have been wiped out of most peoples memories.

Simon seemed to think that Von was very like Clay Aiken which can’t be a bad thing can it?

Paula – “America’s going to remember you. I just loved your performance.”
Simon – “You remind me of Clay Aiken. But you look appalling. You do remind of Clay though and that could be a good thing.”
