Before she found out that she hadn’t actually won last night’s American Idol finale, Crystal Bowersox took to the stage with famous singer/songwriter Alanis Morrissette.

Crystal started with a solo rendition of Morrissette’s 1996 hit ‘Ironic.’ She was then joined on stage by the Canadian star and the two launched into an energetic rendition of the award winning single ‘You Oughta Know.’ Both tracks were from the iconic album ‘Jagged Little Pill’, the success of which Alanis has failed to match since.

A busker or karaoke performance this was not and when compared with eventual winner Lee DeWyze’s duet with Chicago, he pales in comparison. Compare Lee’s nervous and slightly off key vocals with Crystal’s fiery, impassioned tones and her remarkable stage presence and we’re just not sure how she didn’t win last night!
