Michael Bolton has admitted that he would love to act as a guest mentor on the next season of American Idol.

The ‘How Am I Supposed To Live Without You’ singer told On The Red Carpet that he has a lot of advice and sage words of wisdom for young performers.

“Most of the artists I meet want to be around and ask me questions like, ‘Where do you get longevity from? How do you have a 20-year, 30-year or 40-year career? How do you do this all your life?’” he explained.

“I think that’s what a mentor can bring working with a young artist, and also give advice to the people around them.”

In fact, Bolton isn’t content with the idea of acting as a mentor, he admitted that he would gladly replace Simon Cowell on the judging panel in a “heartbeat”, but added: “I don’t know how likely that is!”
