Ryan Seacrest confirms that American Idol 2012 will pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston

Ryan Seacrest has revealed that American Idol producers are planning to pay tribute to Whitney Houston in their upcoming episode.

The next installment of the hit Fox talent show will feature pre-recorded audition rounds, as the judges are seen whittling down the list of hopefuls, as they get ever nearer to the live shows, however they are trying to find a way to mark the passing and pay tribute to the musical legacy of Whitney, who died on Saturday.

Ryan was talking on E! Entertainment’s red carpet Grammy show last night and revealed:

“I can tell you now that I was on the phone with American Idol producers.”

“We are trying to figure out how we can go in and obviously pay tribute in some way and acknowledge the impact that she had on popular singers, popular music and young singers that are trying to make it. So we’ll see.”

Glee star Amber Reilly was being interviewed for the show also and spoke about he first meeting with Houston, which ironically took place just last Thursday and said that the star was nothing but ‘sweet’ to her at Kelly Price’s pre-Grammy party.

She also confirmed that Tuesday’s Valentines Glee episode, will include a version of Whitney’s song ‘I Will Always Love You,’ which she will sing.
