American Idol returned to US TV screens last night and it’s fair to say there was more than enough cute singing boys, to wow the new look judging panel.
The popular reality TV show returned to Fox for it’s 2014 run and boasted returning judge Keith Urban along with the lovely Jennifer Lopez and the dashing Harry Connick. Jr at the judging table.
One of the acts hoping to impress the trio of stars was 21-year-old handyman Keith London, who gave his best efforts as he belted out Katy Perry‘s ‘Roar’ in the audition room.
He made a bit of a boo boo at the start of the tune but restarted, slowed things down a little and apparently it was a big hit.
J Lo asked him to stop singing towards the end and praised the hopeful saying it made her love the song even more than she had before. That’s quite the confidence booster!
Keith Urban and Lopez happily sent the singer through to the Hollywood round.
Keith later tweeted:
“I am speechless!”
“For the record. I did get all 3 judges to say yes. The edit made it look like @HarryConnickJR didn’t believe in me. But he did!!”
“@JLo and @KeithUrban Thank you for believing in me!!!! And for you @HarryConnickJR well… thanks Jen and Keith. jk Love all 3 of you!!!!”

Another performer who stood out from the crowd was the cuter than cute 17-year-old Sam Woolf, who crooned Ed Sheeran‘s ‘Lego House’ for the crew.
The teen hunk revealed that he lives with his grandparents and then went on to wow the room with his rendition of the hit song by one of our favourite British stars.
The judges were blown away by his tone and tuning and the maturity of his performing style, considering his young age.
They liked that he brought a bit of funk and speed to the usually slow track and changed it from a ballad to something a little more upbeat.
Sam got a unanimous pass to Hollywood from all three stars and we think you’ll agree that he deserved it!
