Watch The Wanted perform and Max George kiss Jennifer Lopez on American Idol (VIDEO)
One Direction may be making waves in America but it seems that the boys from The Wanted aren’t doing too poorly either.
The British band saw their single ‘Glad You Came’ storm the US singles chart last month, where it peaked at number 3 in the Hot 100 and after having the track covered on hit Fox musical Glee, last night the boys took to the American Idol stage.
Phew! It’s been a busy few months for them.
Max George really was the one to watch when they hit the Idol stage, as not only did he open the number alone, but later, as they walked into the audience, he made a beeline for judge Jennifer Lopez.
The handsome star sang directly to the mum of two and when she turned in her seat to face him properly, she wrapped her arms around his waist and the pair shared a peck.
Not minding that he is currently engaged to Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan, Max later tweeted about the moment and wrote:
‘That felt….sooooo good!!’
‘JLo youre awesome!!!! X’
Still buzzing from the performance and the adrenaline, George continued:
‘One of the best days of my life…thanks america!!’
His bandmates Jay McGuiness, Siva Kaneswaran, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes seemed to be loving the spotlight too and later, they tweeted from their official Twitter account saying:
‘Thank you to everyone who tuned in tonight… that was the most unbelievable experience to date #TheWantedOnIdol.’
We earlier reported that The Wanted were in a bit of a competition with fellow Brits One Direction, as both groups are desperate to collaborate with teen sensation Justin Bieber.
It would have seemed that the older group had the edge, having supported the Canadian singer in Brazil last year, however Niall Horan and Liam Payne revealed on Twitter that 1D had been in the studio with Justin just this week.
DeAndre Brackensick was the act eliminated on last night’s American Idol, after the judges failed to use their one season save to keep him on the show.
