This week’s American Idol bottom two was a close call and anyone who watched the show this week, would know that it was a tough choice when it came to picking who should leave the hit talent series this week.
After a few less than wonderful or awe inspiring weeks on the show, this time round, the top nine all shone and really went to town with their recent performances and we have to admit that for the first time in a long time, we wanted the judges to cancel elimination all together for one week at least.
However, those aren’t the rules of the game and on last night’s show, it was Heejun Han, Skylar Laine and Hollie Cavanagh that found themselves in the dangerous position of the bottom three, after they received the lowest amount of public votes.
Host Ryan Seacrest then revealed that Skylar and Hollie were safe and through to the next round by the skin of their teeth, leaving Heejun to perform his save me track “A Song For You” and then he waited to see if Jennifer Lopez, Steve Tyler and Randy Jackson would use their once a season save on him.
J-Lo may have had tears in her eyes and Steve praised the young singer for his best performance to date, but none of the judges offered to use up their lifeline and keep him on the show.
Twitter was awash soon after, with fans protesting about the makeup of the bottom three and the fact that Han was the person eliminated. But we have to remember, someone has to go every week and as the standard improves among the performers, this task is going to get harder and harder as the series progresses.
Do you think the judges made the right call? Should the panel have saved Heejun? Leave your comments below….
