“As for the second one, I got invited back to a callback to London.”

Until a couple of months ago, Nick had never even had a singing lesson.

However, after the audition one of the judges told him: “I was knocked out - you gave it to me from the heart. And this is from the heart - you could be Joseph”

His grandparents said they were extremely proud of Nick.

“It was really exciting watching the whole programme,” said his grandmother, Joan Parks.

“It brought tears to our eyes and we are very proud of what he has achieved.”

His grandfather Ted Parks said he believed Nick would easily cope with the competition.

“He has a natural aptitude - personality-wise and talent-wise - to do well.”

Nick said his experience had made him “a lot more passionate”.

“It’s made me want it do much that I’m prepared to do anything and everything I can to get there.”
