Big Brother 2008: Was Mario in prison?
The first housemate rumour to come out after Big Brother launched tonight was that Mario, the cross between Matt LeBlanc and Sylvester Stallone, was previously in prison. He apparently featured in a Bravo show called Brits Behind Bars, and you can apparently see him in this sequence found on YouTube…stop your browser at 0.55.
It’s not confirmed what his stint in jail was, but I did read that it was to do with a domestic violence incident with his former wife.
This is all very interesting, because the overwhelming feedback on our forum is that Mario (who’s real name is Shaun) and Lisa are familiar faces. I’m personally pondering if Lisa is an actress or something, because I’m sure I’ve seen her on TV before…
Anyway, having watched the clip above, do you think the inmate in question is Mario? I’d love to hear what you guys think…

it is him, i’ve seen him on about half a dozen low-budget sky television programmes. the guy will turn up to the opening of an envelope if he thinks there’ll be a tv camera there.
I also watched that programme. It was actually a good programme but it wasn’t real it was an eye opener programme to show the brits what they could be in for if they carried on down the path they were going. I do admit that I also recognise the women in Big Brother from some were. Maybe they just both appear on a lot of programs just separately though do think that it is possible it is a publicity stunt?!
He’s never been in prison, Shaun’s a mate of mine and is just trying to better himself by upping his profile. Nothing wrong with that and good luck to him. He’s made big gambles in his life to pursue his dreams and it’s obviously paying off.
What! He was in prison, an American prison. The prison was real but the Brits were there to help them realise that they were going down a path that could lead to prison. Obviously the brits weren’t actually prisoners and as far as I am aware none of them have ever been to prison for real but in the program they were in a prison.

If you go onto the brits behind bars website you will see him either that or he has atwin and lisa I have seen in adverts for coffee I think but Mario definatly on Brits behind bars!!!!
His real name is Shaun Astbury and in Brits Behind Bars they had all been in trouble with the Law for various stuff and were on the verge of what the show described as moving into serious offences, whatever that means in TV Land haha.
I recognised him straight away, bit rubbish really and I won’t be watching anymore BB as it’s clearly so damn engineered this year to drum up ailing viewing figures from boring TV moments…

mario has aparently been on golden balls aswell as deal or no deal too! that lisa is definately familiar too…have they not been something as a couple..like plastic surgery documentary or sumut? my mam thinks she was on sumut about bein addicted to cleaning or shopping!! attention seakers i think . c.

and he is getting called mario, in the programme it also says he is 41 so it must be him
if you watch virgin 1 on monay nights about half 3 till 4.10 bits behind bars is on and mario is on it.
It seems that silly Mario, or should I say Shaun lol, and his telly seeking girlfriend will do anything to get on TV, I’m sick of seeing him on reality TV shows he`s in them all, Mario the moron he`l be on I’m a celebrity get me out of here soon lmao.

Funny enough i happened to be fliking through the channels last night and i could swore i recognised him, same accent build and looks but with a shaved head, i caugtht a bit on my mobile thinking i could sell it to the press ha ha but looks like someone has got there first. It has to be him unless he has a twin but personally i think he is an actor and the whole couple thing in big bro is bull. When i was watching the program he said he is there for anger manage ment and drink driving
It definaetly was him. i know it was a trial but he was in bother and the next step was REAL prison. As usual he will try and dress it up to try and make out he hadnt done anything wrong in britain but all the brits had been in trouble of some sorts and were on the verge of going down! He thinks he is god and has more faces than big ben! Prat!!!
His attitude and demeanor reveal his true self whether or not he has been in prison. Lisa is like a doe-eyed lamb who agrees with his ardent opinions that are merely paranoid speculations about the motives of other people. She must be desperate to go out with someone so difficult and challenging but then that explains why her physical strength makes up for her lack of self value.
Mario drains people’s resources as well as undermines people’s intelligence and that hasn’t made him very popular. He is typical of any other uneducated, uncivilised person who thinks he is anything but and that is a very sad place to be in himself and the world about him.

I just found this as I googled it after seeing the last few minutes of the Brits behind bars programme as I was sure it was Mario after just seeing him for a second. I didn’t actually watch BB so not sure what Mario’s voice sounds like but the person in the video has an accent that sounds like a Warrington accent.
Hey I am watching brits behind bars now on bravo and that is defo mario and on the show it said he was in for “alchol abuse” Yeh right come on lol…. Just shows you they let fcukin knobers on BigBrother they need to start gettin a grip and get some desent people on the show that will actually benifit from it!!!!
The show has been repeated and yes it was Mario aka Shaun. He comes up with a lot of crap, ie: alcohol abuse etc and when he was in Big Brother he had served in the Army, been a PO manager and loads of other jobs. Perhaps he may have even mentioned Prison Officer??? I think he lies just to be on television
