Most five year olds understand the fact that chickens lay eggs, and new baby chicks sometimes hatching from those eggs but it seems the concept is just too abstract for Ashleigh Hughes.

The dopey Big brother housemate was questioning her boyfriend Luke S and Adam Kelly about the animal today, asking:

‘Where do eggs come from?’

When Kelly informed her ‘from chicken’s asses,’ she added:

‘But the yolk and the white bit….what is that? Please don’t tell me that’s a chick…’

The boys then tried to explain the whole idea of fertilization and Deana Uppal compared it to ladies periods – what is it with her and menstruation? – before Ashleigh exclaimed:

‘I am never eating eggs again…it’s like chick embryos…it’s like period….no, no, no!’

‘So that would have been a baby chick and I’m eating it…no.’

Just when we thought things couldn’t get any worse and perhaps Ash was putting her simpleness on, she insisted:

‘I swear on my life I did not know this happened. I actually thought chickens gave birth to chicks.’

It’s like Jade Goody has been reincarnated!
