Big Brother 2013: BB host Emma Willis criticises popularity task: “I don’t think they should’ve been given so much infomation”

Big Brother host and traditionalist BB superfan Emma Willis is a bit cheesed off with the amount of information the housemates were given during the popularity ranking task the other day.

As part of this week’s shopping task, housemates had to rank themselves on a scale of 1-9 with 1 being the most popular housemate and 9 being the least popular. Once they got the line-up correct, Big Brother would tell them so – meaning, housemates now know who is the most popular housemate and who is the least popular with the public.

Hazel really has had a rough week with this week’s shopping task. She’s been gunged, she’s been made to dress up as a snake as she was branded the biggest snake in the house and now, she’s been told she’s the least popular housemate. At the other end of the spectrum, it was revealed that Gina Rio took the honours as the most popular housemate.

Anywho, Mrs. Willis isn’t best pleased about the amount of correct information the housemates have been given. Do we remember the “no contact with the outside world” rule? Well… that seems to have gone to pot over the last few series’ of the show.

In her weekly pre-eviction video blog, Willis said “I don’t think they should’ve been given so much information that was true.

“One part of you could say ‘they shouldn’t because that’s wrong, they shouldn’t have that information from the outside world’, which I agree with. But then on the flipside, I suppose the people who rate lower on the scale of who was favourite, they now have to up their game a little bit.

“People on the upper end of the scale, who are popular, might think ‘I don’t need to do anything now because everyone really likes me’. So, it’s confusing and I still don’t know where I stand with it in my own head”.

Meanwhile, Emma also said that she will be sad to see any of tonight’s nominated housemates leave the house as Sophie and Sam have “done nothing wrong” and she doesn’t want Dan to leave as he is a “brilliant character in the house”.

She went on to add that if Dan leaves tonight, “we’re gonna see a very different house”.

Big Brother continues this evening at 9pm on Channel 5/HD.

The popularity line up shocked them at the time but a few of them have since been thinking that it was part of the ‘secret and lies’ theme. They just don’t accept that it’s true. They don’t seem to think that it’s possible that Dexter can be more popular than Callum, Dan, Hazel and the unfunny twins. Deluded or what?

I don’t think I was shocked by the Twins’ reaction, but I was surprised. It seems their game plan has really failed them as they were genuinely surprised that they weren’t ranked higher up the line-up.

The twins certainly thought of themselves as very popular.

On a personal note, I’m glad Gina was ranked number 1 and I hope she goes on to win it. She’s hilarious and such a brilliant character to watch – and she’s turned virtually all of the bad opinions on their head.
