Pretty much every year, the bosses of Big Brother say the new series is going to be the “biggest yet” with ever more cunning and cruel plots afoot to bring down housemate after housemate until just one is left standing…

However, Channel 5’s claims are really quite literal this year as according to the Daily Star, they’ve lined up “giant” Lydon Sutcliffe, who’s a whopping 7ft 1in tall, to go into the house.

Lydon, who’s a groundskeeper from Halifax told the paper, “I want to be the first giant on Big Brother…

“I attract the girls because they always ask if my willy is huge too.

“I tell them, ‘If it was in proportion I’d need to be eight foot five’.”

This year, wannabes had to apply online, and out of the thousands who did so, only “the best of the bunch” are being invited for interviews with BB producers.

Other hopefuls who landed interview at Elstree included “white witch” Phoenix, who’s 22, Australian rocker Sam, who’s 27, coach company worker Samantha aged 22 and an Essex “supermodel” called Amy.

In addition, Kurtis, who’s 31 – and who starred in BBC show Grange Hill – also had an interview. He said, “I’ve had some tough times but I’ve turned my life around. Big Brother is my dream.”

Also attending interviews was 61 year old Annette Edwards, who holds the Guinness World Record for being the oldest Page Three girl.

She said, “I can show these young ones a thing or two.”

O god…

The start date for the new series of Big Brother hasn’t yet been announced, but we will of course keep you posted.
