DAY 10
10:31am – In the kitchen, some of the housemates are talking about the lack of food. Alexandra goes to the luxury bedroom where Lisa and Mario are in bed. Alex says they are running out of food and Mario says they need to try harder at the tasks so they can win a luxury budget next week. “At the end of the day there’s people with experience in here. If you don’t tap into that you may as well just go.” Lisa adds “He’s done this type of thing all his life” and Mario continues “I’ve been in the army, I’ve done it at work, I’ve done it all my life, but I don’t want to come across the big ‘I am’ because I’m not like that”.

11:21am – At the dining table Lisa is talking with Mario and Mikey saying the housemates should listen to Mario more because of his experience. “I’ve been in residential management training courses, it’s like I said in the DR (sic), I could run this place, on my head, eyes shut, half asleep”. Dennis is in the Diary Room, saying he’s not sure who he can trust in the house. He admits he did have a gameplan when he came into the house, which was to talk to everyone but to be two-faced. But he says he’s now re-thought that plan, and can’t act like that anymore. “How can you enjoy yourself if you’re not being you? I am not like that in my normal life so why am I going to be like that in here? ”

1:06pm – Dale and Jennifer are talking in the garden about how other housemates are asking if they are an item, but Jennifer says it’s private and she doesn’t want to discuss it with anyone. In the bathroom, Darnell and Rex are talking about Darnell’s albinism. Rex says Darnell is very confident, but Darnell says “yeah but that’s an act, ’cause there’s no way else to be, I can’t be down and out. I purposely go out to be around people who lift my spirits. People mistake that for confidence but no, actually I just want to have a good time. I want everyone to be smiling because then I know I’m not going to worry about my situation.”

2:21pm – The housemates are gathered on the sofas and Big Brother asks for the most musical housemate to go to the Diary Room. Dale and Sylvia run to the door but the others say it should be Darnell. Darnell looks pleased to have been chosen and goes to the Diary Room to receive instructions for the day’s task.

2:59pm – The housemates must all choose an instrument to play, and then perform as an orchestra to When the Saints Go Marching In. Darnell is the orchestra’s conductor. Mario starts to complain about who’s been given which instrument and says they need to win the task. Darnell says he just wants people to be comfortable and willing to play an instrument. He says “you’re always that guy, when someone’s trying to make something happen, you come in and try to be like the voice of reason”. Mario says he’s trying to be helpful. “We’re not going to be Mozart!” says Darnell. Mario replies, “All I’m saying is we need to get people matched up as best we can, and at the end of the day, I’m a facilitator, I’m a manager of people…it’s just making sure everyone is happy”.

4:06pm – Housemates are practising their instruments. In the bedroom Darnell is talking to Mario about how the drum is the most important (Kathreya is on drums) but inadvertently says you don’t need “brains” to play drums. He says he didn’t mean it like that, and that it came out wrong, but Mario says that what Darnell said was “insulting”. “I take offence to that, you need to take that back” says Mario. Darnell gets frustrated and says he didn’t mean that and that Mario is twisting his words. Mario tells Darnell to “get on with the task”.

5:45pm – The orchestra gathers to play When the Saints Go Marching In.

7:12pm – In the kitchen Rex and Mohamed are cooking. Alexandra is listening to them talk then walks off to the bedroom and say to Sylvia that Rex is patronising Mohamed. Alexandra then goes to talk to Mohamed in the bedroom and says “why do you let Rex talk to you like that? … like you’re his dog”. Mohamad says he doesn’t think Rex does, and denies Rex “degrades” him. Alexandra walks off and Mohamed sighs “I can’t be a**ed with this sh*t”

9:13pm – In the bedroom Mario, Lisa and Mikey are talking about Jennifer and Dale. Mikey says it would be “double standards” if Jennifer slept with Dale when she refused to dress up as a Playboy bunny. They then talk about who might win the show. Mikey says “as long as Alex or Sylvia don’t win, I’ll be quite happy”.

9:28pm – Mikey is in the Diary Room. He says Rex has been quiet since Stephanie left, that Alexandra has “settled down”, and that Sylvia is “coming out of her shell”. But he says Alexandra’s “good behaviour hasn’t fooled me”.

10:48pm – Mohamed is in the Diary Room. He talks about what Alexandra said, but says Rex doesn’t boss him around. He says however that Alexandra’s behaviour has changed, but he believes that’s because she realises people might nominate her now.

12:34pm – Mohamed and Rex are at the ashtray talking about Alexandra. Rex says that Alexandra is now being nice to people because she’s no longer “safe” from nomination this week.

2:03pm – Kathreya, Mohamed, Rex, Darnell, Dale and Jennifer are at the sofas. Darnell admits what he accidentally said earlier about not needing brains to play drums, but says that Mario twisted what he said. He apologises to Kat but says that’s not what he meant. “And then he (Mario) just milked it!” says Darnell. Jennifer says “he’s very patronising. He makes me feel like absolute sh*t”. Darnell agrees, “he’s really patronising”.
