” In the run up to nominations, the housemates start to question who’s fake and who’s genuine in the house
” Sylvia reveals to Big Brother that she no longer trusts Alex

11.17am: Housemates are running low on food. Mohamed has made himself some mayonnaise on toast and eating it infront of the other housemates. Sylvia and Alex go off to the bedroom and discuss Mohamed making himself yet more food and not taking into consideration his fellow housemates and their food rations. Alex calls Mohamed a ‘human trash can’ and tells Sylvia, “Why does he have to be so selfish … but I can’t be bothered to argue with about it. His food consumption is ridiculous!”.

11.50am: Dennis and Alex are in the bedroom. Alex is still talking about Mohamed and his food habits. She says, “He’s getting on my f***ing nerves. He’s cooking food whatever, I can’t stand it”. They go on to discuss Rex and how they feel he talks down to Mohamed all the time. Alex tells Dennis, “I think Rex is getting on a lot of people’s nerves to be honest with you”. Dennis agrees.

12.35pm: The housemates are gathered on the sofa. Sylvia comes back from the Diary Room with instructions for today’s task, ‘Crisp Licking’. The housemates will be required to sort 6,250 grams of potato crisps into four different flavours. Big Brother will place in the garden a giant bowl of salt and vinegar, cheese and onion, Worcester sauce and ready salted crisps.
When instructed to do so by Big Brother, housemates must lick each and every individual crisp and then allocate it to the appropriately labelled crisp bag. Housemates have two hours in which to sort all 6,250 grams. Once all crisps have been separated, Big Brother will calculate how accurate housemates have been. Big Brother will permit an error margin of five percentage points above or below for each flavour.
If housemates have sorted the crisps correctly they will receive one token. If housemates sort the crisps incorrectly they will receive nothing. Housemates are strictly forbidden from eating any of the crisps at any time. Any housemate caught breaking this rule will face severe consequences.

1.19pm: The ‘Crisp Licking’ task begins. The housemates are given hair-nets, gloves and protective overalls to wear throughout the duration of the task. Mario makes a suggestion, “Why don’t we do a production line and take turns to lick”. Jennifer adds, “I suppose the crisp lovers will find it hard not to eat the crisps”. Rex suggests they all drink a lot of water to refresh their palettes.

1.54pm: The housemates have been licking crisps for 33 minutes. Whilst at crisp barrel, Mikey sneezes and blows his nose into a tissue. A few minutes later the housemates find a tissue in the barrel of crisps. The housemates are disgusted. Rex asks who did it but no one owns up. Alex tells Sylvia that she saw Mikey sneeze, “I just saw Mikey sneeze four times. I feel sick now”.

4.22pm: The housemates have finished the task. Rebecca and Sylvia are in the bedroom and decide to go for a swim in the pool. Sylvia asks Dennis if he wants to join them, he snaps back ‘no’ and leaves the room. Sylvia tells Rebecca, “That was a bit harsh”.

Sylvia is talking to Jennifer about Dennis and his funny mood. Jennifer tells her, “Just keep out of his way if he’s in a bad mood”. Sylvia thinks that maybe it’s because she moved beds earlier in the week. Dennis is at the ashtray with his head in his heads.

5.05pm: Big Brother announces the task results to the housemates. As the housemates had an error margin of 11% and their margin target was only 5%, they have lost the task. Big Brother tells them they will receive ‘nothing’ for failing. The housemates take it in good spirits and laugh. Luke says, “That means we licked all those crisps for jack all”.

6.06pm: Some of the housemates are at the sofa. Dennis declares to the group, “The tables will be turned tonight. I’ve decided there is too much harmony and happiness in the house. I’m going to take a stand”.

Alex is in the Diary Room. Big Brother asks her how she is feeling now it’s the second week in the house. She says, “I think I’ve settled in much better really and I’m just getting on with it. I haven’t had any dramatic arguments. Rex still really annoys me. He’s quite a dictator and likes to speak down to people. He doesn’t listen to anyone”. She adds, “A lot of people may feel the same way I feel and they look to me to be the voice of the group. It’s annoying, I don’t mind being outspoken but we are all adults so why can’t someone else do it for a change”.

Dennis is taking to Jennifer. He feels that a situation has arisen in the house where housemates are challenged to voice their opinions and ‘walking on eggshells’. Jennifer agrees, “People are holding back as nominations are approaching”.

Back in the Diary Room, Big Brother asks if Alex feels they have got closer as a group. She agrees, “Everyone is getting on much better …we are working as a team. Who knows how long it will last, if someone does p**s me off I’ll be more than happy to tell them. We are all making mutual agreements, bar Mohamed who is just eating what he wants”. When asked how Alex feels about the pending nominations she said she doesn’t have a problem with it and ‘can’t wait’.

6.46pm: Dale is in the Diary Room talking to Big Brother about Alex. “Alex has not been herself”, he says. “I get on with her but I think that it’s sunk in that she could potentially up for nomination. She’s trying to show a more likable side to her. I just don’t buy it”.

Dennis tells Rachel that some of the housemates are saying, behind her back, that she’s being too nice implying that she’s trying to win people over, in the run up to nominations. Dennis tells some of the housemates that he is going to talk to everyone after dinner.

Rachel is in the Diary Room. She tells Big Brother, “Dennis has just told me that somebody has been going around saying that I’m not genuine and not a nice person. Dennis isn’t going to name names but after dinner they will have the opportunity to come to me directly. But if they don’t it’s a bit awkward and annoying. Dennis is just being honest”.

8.39pm: The housemates are finishing their evening meal. Dennis stands up and calls a group meeting, “We need to have a discussion as to how issues and situations are being vented in the house. I’ve definitely spoken behind people’s backs. Can I say I’ve spoken behind Mohamed’s back because of the food situation”. He adds, “A lot of comments have been made about other people in the house behind their backs. Does anyone else have anything to say?”.

Alex stands up, “I’m sure everyone knows, when I have an issue with people I like to take it up then and there and to the person’s face. Then move swiftly on after”.

Next Rachel stands up. She asks housemates to come to her if they have a problem with her rather than gossiping behind her back. “I am approachable. If you have a problem come to me … we are all adults”.
Dennis agrees and says, “If you have a problem, bring it to the table and say it to the person’s face. Otherwise the situation will boil up and that’s unfair. There are reasons why these things happen, so let’s discuss them”.

9.05pm: Sylvia is in the Diary Room talking about the group discussion. She says, “I feel like I cannot trust ANYONE in this house. No one – ie Alexandra. She blatantly talks about people behind their back, all the time. But no one realises that she’s the one that goes around and talks about everyone behind their back. I’m fuming. I can’t believe I’ve been associated with her”.

Jennifer and Mario are in the bathroom. Jennifer tells him that she doesn’t like the way he sometimes preaches to the group. She tells him, “We are equal” and “I don’t want a mum and dad in the house”. She tells him that she thinks he takes things, like tasks, too seriously and that he comes across as too authorative. Mario replies that with his age comes experience and that with his job as a health and safety assesser, and with his ‘leadership skills’, that he doesn’t want anyone to physically hurt themselves in the house. He says, “Sometimes someone has to take the lead role. As a group what I’m trying to do is facilitate, I’m not here to lead. I’m here to bring people in, facilitating is my skill. I’m assertive, not authorative”.

Luke is in the Diary Room. “What a day I’ve had!”, he tells Big Brother. “We’ve had to lick 6000 packets of crisps, not eat but lick. But yet we’ve failed another task. And then Dennis decides to hold another not so successful group meeting. I was nearly falling asleep in the meeting, I had nothing to say. And if I did have something to say about someone I would say it in here. Behind their back!”.

1.25am: Lights are out in the luxury bedroom. Mario and Lisa are in bed together, under the covers. There is movement from underneath the duvet, but they are not asleep.
