Do we all remember Charlie Drummond from the 2009 series of Big Brother? Yeah well, he’s in the slammer!
It has been reported that he has been jailed after a violent attack which left an innocent man with a fractured leg and a dislocated ankle.
Drummond finished in fourth place on the 2009 series of Big Brother and was even named ‘Mr Gay Newcastle’ in 2007. But, the only present he had for his 27th birthday on Thursday was being sent to jail for a total of 21 months. Oh dear.
Drummond was convicted of inflicting grievous bodily harm after he launched an attack on Jamie Ritchie in Newcastle City Centre in April 2013, according to the Mirror Online.
According to court proceedings, the jury heard of how Drummond continued to beat Ritchie to a pulp even after he’d suffered from a fractured leg and a dislocated ankle. Drummond was also seen dragging Ritchie from the road onto the pavement.
At the hearing, Drummond pleaded not guilty to carrying out the assault, but it took just two hours to convict him of the crime, which resulted in a 21 month prison sentence.
Judge James Goss QC said: “This was a sustained assault on a man who had done nothing to deserve it. As a result, he suffered really serious harm and significant pain and required three operations under general anaesthetic to repair the damage and had his leg in plaster for 16 weeks.
“You have demonstrated no remorse whatsoever and you have sought to blame everyone but yourself for what took place”.
Jamie Ritchie, told the jury: “He was giving verbals and punched me with his left fist in the face. I didn’t know what was going on, I tried to stop him.
“Then we went to the ground and that was it. I was on the floor and not able to get up and I had an excruciating pain in my ankle. I was then punched more times, I was trying to stop him punching me.”
However, despite the attack, it was revealed that Drummond was also the victim of a severe attack back in 2007, in which he suffered a blood clot to the head. His injuries were so bad that his family feared they could have lost him.
Are you surprised? Charlie certainly showed that he had a bit of a temper in the house, especially when situations got a bit heated!
