Today is the 8th of the 8th 2008, the luckiest date in the Chinese Calendar. However, it’s not lucky for everyone, because today either Dale or Stuart will leave the Big Brother house.

So today Big Brother is going to test bad luck superstitions to see if they are true, or in fact just mumbo jumbo.

This test will take the form of an obstacle course. Each obstacle will be a physical representation of various bad luck superstitions, and Stuart and Dale must complete the course as many times as possible in a 30 minute period. The housemate who completes the most circuits should, according to superstition, have created more bad luck for themselves and therefore, if the concept of superstition is correct, they should be evicted tonight.

If the winner is not evicted, Big Brother will therefore have proved categorically that superstitions are nothing more than mumbo jumbo.

The course will test the following superstitions:

1. CROSSING SOMEONE ON THE STAIRS

The Head of House will take position on the stairs in the hallway, and Dale and Stuart must run up the heavenly side (the right) of the stairs past Rachel and then back down the hell side.

2. NEW SHOES ON THE TABLE
Stuart and Dale will both be wearing new shoes. It is unlucky to put new shoes on a table. Big Brother will mark two crosses on the dining room table, when the boys get to the table, they must take their shoes off, place them on the table, once they have placed them on the table they must then take them off, put them back on and continue to the next obstacle.

3. UMBRELLAS INDOORS

The next part of the course involves the boys putting umbrellas up indoors, they must stand under them and sing Singing in the Rain then put the umbrella down and move onto the next obstacle.

4. SPILLING SALT

It is unlucky to spill salt, so, before entering the task room, Stuart and Dale must purposely spill salt. There will be a bucket of salt and some scoops, and the boys must scoop the salt out and scatter it on the ground before moving on.

5. WALKING UNDER LADDERS

Big Brother will set a series of ladders criss-crossing each other. They will be set at different heights and the housemates must negotiate their way through the course going under the ladders which will all be set at different heights. They must not knock the ladders over.

6. CRAZY PAVING

It’s bad luck to step on the cracks, so Dale and Stuart should negotiate the crazy paving area as carefully as possible so they tread the entire route across the paving treading only on the cracks.

7. SMASHING MIRRORS

Finally, Dale and Stuart must make their way to the task room where there are a series of mirrors, each with a target printed on them. Housemates must throw potatoes at the mirrors until they have shattered one. Once a mirror has been shattered they must return to the beginning of the course.
Heavenly housemates must watch Dale and Stuart as they take part in the obstacle course from the benches provided in front of the luxury bathroom. Housemates from hell must watch from their side of the house.
