Davina McCall is a mere mortal after all and even she has been on the wrong end of a utilities provider.

Davina recently received an electric bill for a whopping £35,000 caused by her power provider wrongly estimating her bill for seven years. The Sun reports that the company were basing her bill on the average usage of a three-bedroom semi – not realising she lived in a £1.75million mansion.

Davina kicked up a stink and managed to get £20,000 knocked off the bill after threatening them with a court case.

An EDF insider said: “Hundreds of penniless pensioners call saying they can’t afford to pay a couple of hundred pounds but get short shrift.

“In Davina’s case, EDF decided they would rather accept £15,000 instead of paying for a court case.

“It’s a kick in the teeth for the average consumer and seems very unfair.”

A spokeswoman for the star said: “There had been a discrepancy but the issue has been resolved.”
