Former Celebrity Big Brother housemate, Shilpa Shetty, has landed the role of presenter on an Indian version of the show.

Shilpa left the UK show amidst a row over alleged racist behaviour towards her. The show even had to take a year out in 2008 to recover from the scandal. However all this has not stopped Shetty from getting involved with Indian ‘Big Boss’ in which celebrities and normals Joes live together.

The actress told Reuters: “When I heard the concept, and the fact that I only needed to come in for one elimination round every week, I said OK. Plus they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse.”

Talking about her approach to the show’s participants, Shetty commented: “I’ll try to give them a little respite as I know that they will be going through a tough time. I remember what it was to live with strangers in a house cut off from the outside world with nobody to trust and vouch for.”

She added: “The winner needs to just be oneself… that’s the main mantra.”
