Will ITV Steal Big Brother?
It has emerged this week that ITV have begun talks with Endemol, the company behind Big Brother, with a view to poaching the show from Channel 4.
Big brother has aired on Channel 4 since its debut series siz years ago, but contrary to popular belief, Channel 4 has no long term contract with Endemol, and after next year Big brother may have to move house.
A source told the Media Guardian that ITV’s director of television Simon Shaps was prepared to put up an “almighty fight” to take the show.
“Big Brother is with Channel 4 at the moment and Endemol is quite happy with them but technically it has no home after next year,” the source is quoted as saying. “When it comes to pure financial muscle, ITV could probably beat Channel 4.”

I shall place a bid of one penny to buy Big Brother, but they also have to throw in Richard and Judy , otherwise its daylight robbery.

PS Bonnie langford was robbed on Dancing on Ice and to my knowledge thats nothing to do with Big Brother . OR is it ? Is It Jane !!!!!! .
I blame Big Brother for putting on very old Simpsons and King of the Hill, they isnt even made now. I also blame BB for John F Kennedys assasination and for faking the moon landings, marilyn monroes death, the cancelling of the great series TOP OF THE POPS and world debt, Posh spices weight loss and charlotte church’s weight gain, the war in iraq, the extinction of the dinosaurs etc.

The big cheese of ITV did actually resign this week (wednesday) as ITV is in alot of financial trouble, that part is not a joke and its true. He resigned after the media guardian article was written.
So nobody knows what the hell is going on, as long as ITV keep Corrie, Dancing on Ice and X factor, Poirot and the drama where the lady can see the dead who have been murdered I’m happy.
They should also put judge judy on ITV one, as thats a reality TV programme of sorts.

I don’t know if I agree with you on the Bonnie Langford part Dawn…..she was graceful and certainly could be carried, but I thought Gaynor developed far more throughout the series and by the end was an outstanding skater.
I don’t know that Big Brother would work on ITV, and I think ITV would be buying a sinking ship if they went ahead. Unless they changed the format massively, I don’t think Big Brother UK has much more life left in it. Now if they did a Big brother All Stars like the US are running at the minute, I might be persuaded to watch.

I dont think Big Brother would be the same on ITV. However I disagree that it hasnt got much life left in it. As silly as it sounds every year when big brother starts I find the people in there are hard to watch and find the programme itself has lost its spark however after the first week or two is over and the more episodes I catch it is impossible not to get hooked time and time again and Im sure the millions of other devoted viewers would agree. To be fair if it wasnt for X factor starting shortly after Big Brother ends i dont think i could stand the withdrawal symptoms lol!

i think bb (big brother) is da best reality tv show eva. and i hope it is on tv 4eva. people say it is da same every year, or how will the show b betta nxt year? people think it hasnt got a chance to beat expectations. BUT I THINK IT IS A LENGEND. i get really teary-eyed when it reaches its climax. What am i going to do with out it. And ITV are not {hopefully} going to steal it just to boost up there own ratings. If they could keep there reality shows on for longer then 5minutes mayb it could have a chance of winning the ‘Reality TV Crown’. But i definitly bleave that bigbrother is the best. I will be counting down the days for big brother 8.
p.s dermert, devina and russuel make the show come alive, without them big brother wouldnt be the same. someone should put up a petition; i would defo sign my name on and i bet channel 4 would win hands down.

p.p.s i av wotched da first series ’till BB7, and i woz only a eleven at da time of the first 1; but from 2000 to 2006 big brother has got bigger and better each year.

well said. Ive watched it consistenly up until bb7(this year). the changes and the huge influx of contestants ruined it. i hope channel 4, NOT Itv, learn from the mistakes and make a better, bigger, more improved Big brother for 2007
