Amanda Holden admits Simon Cowell turned her career around after Neil Morrissey scandal
Amanda Holden has admitted that she will always be in debt to Simon Cowell, after he rejuvenated her flagging career.
The blonde beauty had been on the up, until she cheated on her husband Les Dennis with Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrisey in 2000 and the scandal was splashed all over Britain’s tabloid newspapers/
She and Dennis tried to make a go of their marriage, despite the revelations but eventually separated in December 2002 and divorced in 2003. Her TV career never had the same shine after the event.
Amanda admitted to The Sun:
“I am a terrible flirt. I come from a family of them. My grandmother still pinches bottoms at the age of 92.
“But I always thought of myself as a good girl – and then things happened, and I realised no one else did.”
However things turned around for Holden when Simon asked her to be a judge on his new ITV show Britain’s Got Talent back in 2007. She has remained the only judge to have survived five series’ and thinks that without the job, she never would have been able to revive her career.
Speaking about Cowell she added:
“I’m grateful to him. Obviously he’s made me a lot of money, but he also gave me an amazing profile change.”
That’s what Simon does best!
Holden will soon have another job to focus on as this Saturday night she will be presenting new series ‘Superstar’.
The show will feature Andrew Lloyd Webber, Dawn French and Jason Donovan on a search for the star of a new production of Webber’s hit musical ‘Jesus Christ Superstar.’
