Amanda Holden To Judge Britain’s Got Talent

Amanda Holden will be judging on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent along with ex-Mirror editor Piers Morgan and the man himself, Simon Cowell.

Amanda, 35, said: “I can’t wait to see what the British public delivers.”

Why exactly is she on the panel? What is her talent?

Just a warning for other entertainers auditioning for Britains got talent.
I appeared on the show and simon could be quite freindly but peirs morgan and Amanda Holden could be quite nasty (Not to me) but to a lot of other performers.
You only get seconds to prove if your any good at the talent you have. For a comic its a nightmare because none of them understand that you cant prove how good you are in 30 seconds.
You have about as much chance as peirs morgan getting a his job back at the Daily Mirror.
Why is Amanda on the show , what experience has she got in the entertainment world ? They need proper entertainers on the panel, ones who have had to learn there art and struggle to get where they are today and then perhaps they will appreciate what these acts are going through. At leats BBC Opportunity knocks gave you 3 mins to prove if you was any good or not.
There was a lot of performers who were excellent who came off stage in tears and they were of all ages.
So be warned its not for the faint hearted (im still having nightmares)
They can destroy dreams aswell as carears so please think and get advice before you go on this show.
    All the best
    Brian.

    Is it that bad?

  3. Star1 says:

Also remember that they hadnt seen more than half of the contestants audition yet, when the Birmingham recalls were staged. Therefore you would have to be exremely lucky to progress, given the amount of talent still to audition round the country.

This show is not really a route to further anyone’s career. So when you get your recall, just enjoy it for what it is – another day to perform!

We heard/saw some fantastic singers and performers yesterday in London. God knows how they’ll decide!

Dave do you remember us? I was wearing the military coat and my son was in a suit, we were picked out along with you for the outside filming. We were also filmed inside for an interview. It was good fun! Good luck to you all too!

hi my little sister has got an audition on tuesday 27th feb in manchester, we r abit confused about the audition? Does she go into a room like the x factor or is it on a stage with an audience??
    thanks x x

  10. Star1 says:

Charlie it’s in a room with two of the production team only – and if you are under 16 your carer comes in with you too.

    Hello Brian,

You ask what Entertainment Experience Amanda Holden has?

Plenty musical theatre, live drama, comedy drama, television work. In fact Amanda is an extremely good all round entertainer and she has had all her life dedicated to it so far.

I gather your audition was a negative experience.

What is a real pity is that people do not prepare themselves well in advance in addition a little knowledge and respect goes a long way.

The first 30 seconds is your make or break time in all auditions, its all you have on a demo disc even if your 2 songs equate to 7 minutes. If the A and R man isn’t impressed within the first 30 seconds your disc could become a coffee coaster.

You need to know exactly what you are going to do and you need to walk in confidently. There is no time for time wasting. Time wasting is money.

  13. Star1 says:

Couldn’t have said it better Maureen! Actually I would have said it’s the first ten seconds (first bar) for singers. If you watch Bianca Ryan on the US show – you’ll see what I mean….

  14. Maureen says:

    Hello Star1,

How very astute. With the exception of an introduction if a backing disc is allowed and in certain circumstances they are ‘for those who are very young and possibly very nervous without’. I will have to agree with you on the first ten seconds for a singer, even though I have not watched Bianca Ryan.

In fact every time I have sat in on auditions, I have encouraged all to do two or three breathing exercises. Observed the way in which the individual walks in, the overall posture and facial expression when they open there mouths to sing. Sometimes, I have stopped an audition when the individal has been uncertain of there opening notes.

Being a kind and thoughtful individual at this point, I have often got out of my chair walked towards the individual auditioning taken hold of a hand to reassure them we are not monsters, asked them to sigh allowing cool air down to pass down the throat. Encouraged them to loosen the neck and shoulders take a sipp or two of water, sing one note to a vowel just to place the voice and ask them to start again.

Sometimes showing you care is enough to get the auditonee to give themselves a better start.

Sometimes nerves can get the better of people and even someone who is good can have this problem within the all important 30 seconds.

  15. Brian says:

    Hello Maureen
I dident say my audition was a negative experience, i was just saying that acts need to be aware how long you have to impress and to be aware of how the judges can put you down.
I didnt say personaly amanda had no talent i was quoting what it said at the top of this page but i do beleive they need people who know what there talking about.I saw a little girl on the show and amanda said she was excellent but she would not put her through to the next round as she came from stage school and peirs and simon couldent understand why.So what message does it send out to acts who are at stage school?
Lets face it the show is to show off talent and acts that havent got talent as this makes good tv.(Ratings)
My advice to any act doing auditions, go prepared , expect the unexspected but be prepared for knock backs make sure you present yourself well and rehearse and rehearse and if you dont get picked theres always someone else that will like you so keep trying, and most of all dont take it personally theres more to life.
    All the best
    Brian

  19. Maureen says:

    Hello Brian,

I realise you were reading from the top and if I seem a bit tetchy, its because I feel Amanda Holden should be a good judge for the job.On the basis of her background experience. Sadly women aren’t the decision makers in this industry and turning down an excellent youngster from a stage school could well have been done according to the criticsim that’s levied at auditonees who do go to one. Sometimes people feel that they are given preferential treatment. Leona Lewis the recent winner of the X factor has endured this.

This subject is a really sore one for me and others like me. There are thousands of leavers from Drama, dance and theatre courses every year throughout Britain and some schools are not obliged to give any positive careers guidance, so they are left to the battle for survival in the cruel world outside. Some schools are very good the Silvia Young School is one of many who have a package geared for leavers and as such the cream of their crop will get jobs professionally within 6 to 9 months of leaving. The majority of musicians and singers in Britain today either survive in the regions with the support of a day job which may or may not be related to what they do musically. Furtherore, they have a job which is responsible for bread and butter on the table – and the music, the drama, the dancing etc has become a hobby. It goes without saying much more but many amateurs are professionals who simply can’t get a foot in the door.

Of household names or making it less than 1% of those who train become known. It is the hardest business of all to get into and to survive in even if unknown regionally.

Televised talent shows are about a mixture of things good viewing and statistics top the list. Lets face it though if every contestant was from a drama, dance or theatre school the vast majority of viewers would switch off. The’d switch off because they’d want to see some of there own social class making progress in the world. In other words they need a reason to watch TV, it should not be assumed that they are a gullible couch potatoes who watch anything and everything.

ITV is noted for trying to ensure that a certain standard is maintained but when looking at it from there persepective, the majority of viewers of ITV programmes of Saturday night are working class and if they have families they watch in groups and Vote in multiple groups.

If BBC two started a talent show off a major difference in viewers would be immediately noted.

Several years ago I sent in a few programme profiles/ideas for format TV for my region and although the company were wonderful, they told mw out right they did not make programmes for selective viewers. They only made programmes which would register with a significant viewers statistic as they also had an obligation to adertisers who needed an unwitting catchment for the marketing of products and services.

ITV is television for the masses.

Talent shows with ITV are reflective of what viewers would like to buy in the shops, yet somehow they don’t buy in the quantities the music industry would like. Could it be we have fickle Saturday night viewers?

Hello Maureen,Just a quick note my son Jack auditioned yesterday 28th od Feb at Manchester and it could not of gone better on his part he done everything he practised perfectly for the audition. He sung aint that a kick in the head by Dean Martin and done his mammy very very proud cosidering he has had no training at all i think hes amazing.
He did get on camera as one of the workers i belive from the production team came and got him to stand at the from and he also sung in the middle of the floor.
In the audition room the production team were great friendly and made his relaxed although i must say i think i was the one with the nerves and not jack i could not look at there faced during his audition for willing him to too well, After the audition i have explained to him that on waiting to here for the 2nd auditions if he by chance does not get contacted all he has to think about is that he done his best and thats all that matters over all it was a good day thanks for you help by the way we are Newcastle as well god bless Mrs Harrop

  26. mrs harrop says:

Hello Mrs Meakin i truly no and belive were you are comming from because my emotions are exactly the same as yours because my son Jack has song from such a young age and really has a love for music although i have never taken him to any stage schools ect he still has a love for music and entertaining. However like yourself i really dont want to see him get hurt either especially bacuse 9 is such a young age to understand rejection so prior to this competition i have made sure that he realises that he is in it for fun and whatever the outcome his we think hes a star.Jack is my only child and i would love him to do well he is our life and his dads world but hopfully if they do suceed to the next round the judges will hopfully no how to be tactful to children of such a young age and if not well thats when we there for them to give them our support hoope this helps hun love josey

  33. mrs harrop says:

Hi to everyone who has taken part in Britains Got Talent. Has the days are getting closer to reciving a call back i can imagine many of you like myself are worried and anxious willing the phone call to confirm the next round.
Its my son whom had taken part in the audition and like many of you i belive he done realy well i can especially say from my point of view in anyways.
It Has been a nerve racking time especially for those who auditioned like my son on the 28th of febuary at Manchester after auditioning like many of yous he was told that he would here within 4 to 6 weeks after his audition, only to find that the recalls are happening in Manchester Opera House on the 23rd 24th and 25th of March i belive may be a few days out here.
So as alot of people have said the calls to confirm the next round may not be to far off maybe a matter of days.
Wow doesnt ease the nerves because then we thinking well initially i was told 4 to 6 weeks but then the Opera House is booked for the dates realesed. Does this mean that some people may have been told something else?
Honestly i dont belive so, i belive that on the day thay do have an idea has to whom is going to through to the next round but dont say anything.
Anyways this is from my heart to you all GOOD LUCK in reciving a call and always remember if that call does not arrive and you have been unsucessful keep going towards your dreams and never give up as 1 door closes another 1 opens
    God bless
    Mrs Harrop

    Hi,
My daughter had audition in Cardiff on 5th March and has had a call back for this Saturday. She heard back on Sunday. Can anyone give me more advice on what to expect from the judges. How does the judging work etc? J x

reading your post Hun im under the impression that your daughter has just under a week to prepare for this is this right just that my son auditioned for Manchester and although hes not through it just gives us a general estimation as what to expext good luck to your daughter by the way

  39. hi says:

    Hi Josey,
Yeah thats right. She was called Sunday afternoon and has to sing in front of an audience of 2000 plus the 3 judges. Im sure that she will be fine. Looking at the other posts I think they have to make an impact within the first 30 secs. She is only 12 years old but really strange that she is not scared. Slightly nervous. It has been her dream for a very long time to sing in front of Simon Cowell and even if this goes no further then she has fullfilled one of her dreams. I am sorry that your boy didnt hear. Kind Regards J x

  40. Jen says:

they are only really interested in singers….the winner will get a recording deal……..how can they make money out of other acts?

    Hi,

I see that the 6th April has been announced as the date for London call backs (no venue given yet) but so far this is the only date and only one time is given(11.15am). Does anyone know if there will be other dates and times for London? If not, can that mean that less people will be called back from the London auditions? There’s three dates for the Manchester callbacks, with two shows per day, presumably with 10/15 acts per show, if it’s the same as Birmingham. Any one got any views, or additional info.

    Cheers,

My daughter was at the call backs yesterday and she is through to the 3rd round which is great news. It was a great day but a lot of hanging around as they were running late but at least we were inside. Thats all I can say to anyone going for a recall, you really have to be quite confident. I know that there were acts who were confident before going on stage but just lost it when in front of the judges. It was an awesome experience for my daughter. She is only 12 and did really well. Good luck to anyone else. xxxxxx

    Hi Georgie,

They willusually do it in the order that they have slots to fill. The slots will have a mixture of different acts, so that you don’t get all the singers all in one go or all the comedians in one go either. It’s better for variety that way

hi maureen hope your ok? do you know if they have started to call people back for the london auditions yet? as i have’nt heard anything yet? and was wondering if people are now being called by telephone or will we receive a letter? thankyou ever so much debbie from wimbornex

  79. Georgie says:

HIYA PAVVI, I BET UR RIGHT!
JUST WONDERING, DO U SING IN2 A MICRPHONE OR DO U JUST HAVE 2 SING, A’CAPEELA WIHTOUT 1?
    THANX, GEORGIE

  80. Georgie says:

P.S, LET ME KNOW HOW U GET ON IN THE NEXT ROUNDS OF THE COMPETITION!!!!!!

  81. katie says:

I was at london auditions and i had a call today asking if i had heard anything. i said no and they told me they needed to know if i got back what music i would need, so i told them then they said i would hear in 3 days if i have got through. anyone else had this ???

  82. Danni says:

Hi I’m new to this website, as I was referred to it by Star1 and Pavvi (thanks by the way).

I hope you don’t think I’m being rude by asking, but after reading back all the above comments, I was just wondering does Maureen have some inside knowledge on when people will hear back for 2nd round auditions etc.?

I auditioned on the 19th February in London as a Songwriter (not a singer although I can sing, as I didn’t want them to judge me on my looks or voice). At the audition the lady let me sing two of my songs (which I took as a good sign). The lady put a sticker on my piece of paper after I started singing (don’t know if this is a good or bad thing).

I thought the audition went well and really enjoyed my morning in Islington. I doubt I will get through though as being a songwriter isn’t really a typical category, and I’m sure they will pick either singers or entertainment type acts instead.

I just look at it as good experience and an enjoyable day, and if I get through then it would be an added bonus.

  83. penny says:

my grandaughter and her partner went for london auditions they had a call week later to ask what music they danced to. they are 8 @ 9yrs old they had a great day. not heard anything else yet.

  84. katie says:

    Hello Penny

What type of dancing does your grandaughetr do ?

  85. Danni says:

Katie that sound like a very positive sign that they called you today. Are you a dancer or singer etc?

  86. katie says:

    Hi Danni

Im a dancer, i actually did a doubles dance with my daughter. Well they said we would hear in 3 days so i will have to ban everyone from calling my mobile just in case !!!!

was a great day at the design center really enjoyed it. what day did you go Danni ?

  87. scottleopold says:

    Good luck to all

  88. katie says:

    GEORGIE XX

  93. Danni says:

Hi Katie, I went on the 19th Feb (see my above post for more details).

I was lucky as my audition was early in the morning and I was in the first group to be called to the audition room area, so I didn’t have to hang around for hours.

Good luck by the way. Let us know when you get your call back.

  94. pavvi says:

Georgie – you will have a mic if you get through to the recalls…so don’t panic! You won’t haave to sign without!

  95. penny says:

they did hip hop, they had a call from the show 5 days after the audidtion asking what the song was and who it was sung by. but they haven,t heard anything else yet. but a couplewe know have heard that they didn,t make it.

our girls were interviewed twice, then asked by the floor people in the holding room to dance with their music so they could record them, then asked everyone to be quiet so they could do it again with no music. thier audition was on the 24th feb.

anyone had news from that date?
    penny xx

  96. katie says:

    Hi Penny

Oh so some from from London know they are not back !

Sounds like it might be quite promising for you girls with the interviews and all. I wish them the best of luck its all so exciting But such a long time to wait to know anything !!!

    katie xx

  97. katie says:

WE JUST GOT CALL !!!! We are through to next round !!

    katie xxxxxxxxx

  98. Jill says:

Hi My son’s band had an audtion on 20 Feb in London. Hasn’t hear anything. Has anybody else heard from that date?

  99. katie says:

we were the 20th aswell but as far as we no they have only started calling today

    xx

  100. Danni says:

Congratulations Katie. Good luck for the next round. Is your call back on 6th, 7th or 8th? If it’s on the 6th April, I have audience tickets so might see your act.

Out of interest did they call you in morning or afternoon?

The reason why they probably asked people a few weeks ago about music is that they have to get permission to use the songs due to royalites paid to the artists on the tracks.

  101. katie says:

    Hey Danni

Dont know yet was just told that itwill be next friday or sat they will let us know and if we got called would need to be available for the sunday !!!!!

  102. katie says:

got my fingers crossed for them penny !!

    and thank u xxx

  108. Georgie says:

thanx pavvvi, people have said that i have a very powerful voice so i hope the mic wont make it sound TOO loud!!! waiting 2 hear still.
    GOOD LUCK 2 EVERY1!!!

  109. katie says:

this is katies daughter what sort of acts have u done ? xx

  110. Georgie says:

    PAVVI? (1 MORE QUESTION)
CAN U SING A’CAPELLA WITHOUT MUSIC AND JUST YOUR VOICE WITH THE MIC, OR DO U HAVE 2 HAVE THE MUSIC WITH U??

  111. pavvi says:

They will usually allow you to use a backing track if you want to but it’s fine to do it a capella. Don’t worry about there being too much power don’t move the mic away or walk further away if using a stand. The sound engineers will make adjustments if they need to

  112. penny says:

do they let you know in a letter? as my granddaughter moved since they auditioned and the phone network wouldn,t let her take the old number, she did give her mobile when they called up. so fingers crossed they,ll use that one.

good luck everyone who got through.
    just enjoy your day.
    penny xx

  113. katie says:

They called my mobile penny so that should be fine xxx

  114. hi says:

    Hi Pavvi,

We were at the 2nd auditions with you in Cardiff and we have just had the details for the 3rd round in London. What time and date are you and the A470s having to go back? They have told us to wear the same things again and have just said the be prepared for anything! Have you any idea whats going on? Regards Jayne x

  115. katie says:

I take it the 3rd round is on the Sunday then ? xx

  116. hi says:

Are you through to the 3rd round Katie?

  117. katie says:

No have second round next fri or sat but they did say if we got called back again then we would need to be free on the sunday xxxx

  118. hi says:

Where is your second audition next weekend? What is it that you do? Jayne x

  119. scottleopold says:

Its wonderful Katie for you and your daughter to have made it. Im sure I sidnt. Not much place for a bloke doin magic card tricks. Have a great experience and be proud. Ill be cheering you on!!!!!!!!!!!

  120. Lyn says:

    Hi Guys,

Just a bit confused about the third round!!! I’m reasonably sure that the ‘third’ round in America’s got talent’ was the live TV shows. One show for the called back acts from each area. Followed by the semi finals and final, but the live TV shows are not due until June are they??? So maybe this recall is for additional interview / footage, rather than an actual 3rd round.

    Any thoughts????

    Lyn

  121. katie says:

Audition is at Shaftesbury theater, my daughter and I are dancing together xx

  122. katie says:

Hmm not to sure lyn, Guess we will all find out soon !!!! xx

  123. Jill says:

Hi all London 20th Feb auditionees, Good luck to you all. My son’s band are still waiting to hear. Fingers and everything else crossed for you all. Has anybody heard this am?
    Jill

  124. hi says:

    Hi,
Am not sure what the 3rd round will entail. They were really vague on the phone but did say that my daughter needed to wear the same clothes but just said be fully prepared for “anything”! Dont know what that means. I know where it will be but cant really say but they wouldnt give me the venue. Good luck to everyone going for the 2nd round and hope to see you Sunday for those of you that get through to the next round. Jayne x

  125. katie says:

What time was your son there on the 20th of feb? my daughter and I auditioned that day at 3pm xx

  126. Jill says:

My son (lewis) and his band audtioned at 3pm too.

  127. katie says:

Oh oh oh so we would have all gone in together !!!

  128. Jill says:

Well, when I say 3pm, it was around that time. Think we were later that it actually said on the invitation letter.

  129. Jill says:

What I mean by 3pm, is it was around that time. I know it was later than the time on the invitation letter. What with all the waiting around etc.

  130. Jill says:

sorry message came twice, having probs with my computer for some reason. Its going really slowly.

  131. katie says:

It was a 3 o clock intake tho wasnt it then we all signed in then sat in the room where you had to sit in either A,B,C etc

where everyone practised !! it was so nice to see what others where doing xx

  132. Jill says:

Were you the lady whose daughter audtiioned and then they wanted to see her with her mum?

  133. katie says:

YES !!! The old one hehe xxx

  134. Jill says:

My sons band sat next to you. They are called The Throwoffs. Ska/Punk band.

  135. Jill says:

So you are thru to round 2? Is that right?

  136. katie says:

I wondered if that was them !!!

Have they auditioned before or was this there first time ?

  137. katie says:

Yes we got a call yesterday !!

  138. Jill says:

    First time audition.

They are well known in the area where we live. They are playing a theatre this Saturday. So far 300 tickets sold, so they are quite excited about that. They have recorded some cds and are about to go into the studio to do another.

How about you and your daughter have you auditioned before?

  139. Jill says:

Hey good luck with the next round.

  140. katie says:

Oh thats fab so exciting to perform at theatres !!

No it was our first audition too.

We both danced at Sadler wells not together i did it with dance school when i was about 15 and my daughetr danced there last year. There was a show called 100 years of dance was gr8 to watch.

Wish them the best of luck for sat im sure they will have a great time !!

  141. scottleopold says:

Katie you said your old. May I enquire about how old?

  142. scottleopold says:

Sorry, never ask I lady her age. Just curious if your nan type or younger

  143. Jill says:

Seems like dancing is in your genes then. Its nice that your daughter has the same interest as you.

  144. scottleopold says:

Jill best of luck to your son’s band with their recordings

  145. katie says:

Yes its nice she has gone down the same road!!

And scott a woman never tells her age lol !!!!

  146. Jill says:

Hey thanks, Scottlp. It would be really good if they got a call back though. Every bit of exposure helps.

  147. katie says:

We All have our fingers crossed jill !!!

  148. scottleopold says:

Katie do you dance professionally or teach?

  149. katie says:

Neither Scott, i compete you cant compete in competitions if you are a professional or a teacher.

    xx

  150. scottleopold says:

Oh. Didnt know how that worked. Well you must be right chuffed your little one has followed your lead. Jill…does your son have any CD’s one can purchase at shoppe?

  151. Jill says:

At the moment they mainly sell their cd’s at their gigs. Also t’shirts. Will have new cd soon. They write their own songs and lyrics. Only do a couple of covers. If you go to http://www.myspace.com/thethrowoffs you will see and hear them.

  152. pavvi says:

    Hello hi,

good to hear from you again….yes it’s all a mystery…originally they had given me a 2pm slot but changed it to 10.30…..which is hopeless because the first train in from Port Talbot leaves at 0420 and doesn’t get in until 10.15…they have told me that they are going to come back to me on it, and suggested possible alternative travel arrangement.

They aren’t allowing guests to come, however, so I can hardly expect my wife to drive me in (I don’t drive)and sit around London for ever….

They won’t answer any questions just saying that it is at an undisclosed location in London, when I spoke to them about wearing the same things, and what simon had said, they said not to worry about it….the suspense is killing me!

  153. hi says:

    Hi Pavvi,
I live in Cardiff and am driving up so if I can be of any help with transport just let me know. Regards Jayne x

  154. hi says:

    P.s.
We are 10.30am too on the Sunday!

  155. Danni says:

I think Lyn said about doing additional interviews and stuff is probably right and that is why they want you to wear the same clothes Pavvi. Or they will make it look on TV as though you had the 3rd round the same day as the other 2nd round auditions only this time in a different room (i.e. not with audience). That way they make make the transition between 2nd and 3rd round smoothly, like a kind of boot camp thing. This is only me guessing though. It will be interesting to hear all your stories after the 8th April.

In my orginally audition letter for 19th Feb, it did say that if people got through to the 2nd round they would have to be free on the 6th, 7th and 8th April, which is why I assumed there would be 3 dates of London 2nd round callbacks. But now it is clear the 8th April was for people who have got through to 3rd round.

I’ve still not heard anything yet. So I expect a ’sorry but you’ve not made it’ letter through the door in the near future.

  156. pavvi says:

Thanks Hi, that’s a real help from you and much appreciated…

  157. Lyn says:

    Hi Guys,

For those of you still wondering about the 3rd recall… not sure if this will help, but I have a print out (found it online when the BGT auditions were first announced) detailing each stage of the America’s Got Talent show. It lists the acts that made it to the second round in each city. These acts then performed in front of the judges (same as our second round I expect) It then says… and I quote…

“At this point 58 of the 61 acts (29 with televised auditions and 29 without) that made it to the semifinals were divided into four groups. The 14/15 acts in each group had to perform a second audition in front of only the judges. Brandy, Hassleshof and Morgan then picked ten of these performers to continue on to the telecast. The contestants chosen to perform on stage are announced one at a time. Those acts that are not chosen do not find out until the last act is called, ending their chances to move on to the semifinals, unless a judge selects a non-performer for the Wild Card show.”

The 58 down to 61 was because three acts didn’t continue on for contractual reasons.

There were four semi final shows over four weeks followed by a wild card week, then the final. There were nine acts in the final and the public vote for the winner.

The UK show may not follow America exactly but I hope it helps a bit. (I read on one site that the UK live shows will be on daily for a week. Maybe so it won’t clash with the next X factor?)

Hope this is helpful, but apologies if it causes more nerves!!!!!

    Lyn

  158. Lyn says:

Sorry !!!! Mis- quote… There were ten acts in the Amercian final.

Not sure if it will happen here, but the acts that came in 2nd and 3rd also won a prize ( A 2007 Dodge Caliber RT) but then the American winner won
1 million dollars, so don’t get too excited just yet….

    Lyn

  159. Georgie says:

any1 had any news about london callbacks. i stil havent heard anything and am getting so so anxious and worried. only afew more days until callbacks end!

  160. DSE says:

We haven’t heard anything – either good or bad. Still if I’m right it’s a 1:500 chance of getting through so would be shocked if we don’t get the ‘thanks but no thanks’ letter. Who knows when the callbacks are over?
    DSE

  161. Georgie says:

callbacks, i suppose end on the 5th of april as the second rounds are the 6-8th april. fingers crossed and good luck !

  162. Georgie says:

oh and by the way, what date did you audition. i auditioned on the 21st feb. just wondering as callbacks may be called in order of the date that you went!

  163. katie says:

what was your act georgie ?

  164. Georgie says:

    singing katie.

  165. katie says:

cool. what song did you sing?. My daughetr and I did a dance act xx

  166. Jill says:

Hi My son’s band still hasn’t heard anything from 20 Feb London audition. I suppose no news is good news. If they don’t make this one, they’ll just carry. As one door closes, another opens. So all of those people who don’t make it, don’t lose heart, just carry on.
    Jill

  167. DSE says:

We were 3 pm Sat 24th Feb. The producers were very complimentary but I guess they would be to a kid of 8!

Don’t lose heart, just go on. If you know you have talent, theres more than one way to let people know about it.

My son’s band still haven’t heard either way, they’ve decided to put it down to experience. They had a good experience on the day of the audtions, its something they had never done before.

  195. Ms Lain says:

    Ms Lain,

    To all the “ACTS”.
I wish you all the best, it takes a lot of courage to perform, and don’t forget if you don’t make it this time round, there will always be opportunity to continue in the future, even if its on a smaller scale, i.e., pubs, old people’s homes, clubs etc.
    You are all STARS!
Don’t let anyone take that away from you, if you enjoy it, so will
    the audience, “Keep Smiling”!
    Ms Lain.

  196. Georgie says:

I still havent heard ANYTHING. just hope they ring today saying SOMETHING, even knowing where you stand would be better than this. WORRYING AND WAITING!!
I think this is the last day 4 London recalls, but you r right ms lain don’t stop what u luv doing because it’s a 1:500 of getting through. There r still other ways of fulfilling your dream and this is just the beginning.
4 all the people who havent gotten through, I bet it was a great experience even to take part in something like this, we’ve met some great people along the way and made very good friends, so just look on the bright side!!!! Luv georgie xx

He has been practising in his room.
I had to smile, as he certainly
    “sounds and looks”, the part!

    Ms Lain.

  200. DSE says:

Obviously, we haven’t got through but my friend’s husband has. He has to go and perform at The Shaftesbury Theatre tomorrow during the day. His act is a puppet camel. He is really worried in case they are inviting him back to make fun of him rather than because he is good. I haven’t seen the act so couln’t say but one way or another it will be quite an experience!
Good luck to everyone who got through.look forward to seeing it on tv.

    DSE

  201. Georgie says:

DOES EVERY1 THINK THAT YESTERDAY (5TH APRIL) WERE THE LAST DAY OF CALLBACKS, BECAUSE I HAVENT EVEN ECIEVED A LETTER. SHOULD I HAVE DONE??
    THANX

  202. Georgie says:

HAS ANY1 ELSE NOT HEARD ANYTHING??

  203. Jill says:

    Hi Georgie

My son’s band haven’t heard anything either, they have put it down to experience.

Don’t lose hope, keep on, theres more than one way to skin a cat.

    Best wishes
    Jill

  204. Ms Lain says:

    For DSE,

I have been told to go to a different
address, prior to the theatre, did
this apply to your friend’s husband?
Short notice I know, but I hope
that you can get back to me on that
    one soon!
    Regards,
    Ms Lain.

  205. ICE says:

Hey good luck to everybody on the show – we auditioned in Manchester call a call back for a 2nd audition in front of the judges unfortuantely didnt get through told we had style issues and Simon was rather rude so beware – oh well never mind.

    Anyway websites http://www.myspace.com/theiceband
would be good to get some feedback on the songs – thanks

  206. katie says:

    Ms Lain

My daughetr and I are going tom and we weren’t told a different address to go to before xxxx

  207. katie says:

    Hi Ice

    What was your act ?????

  208. DSE says:

I don’t know if my friend had to go to a different address before the theatre. He didn’t mention that when we spoke this morning. He left about 2 hours ago.
I can’t wait to find out what hppened!
Yesterday must have been last day for callbacks. Seems the letters are a little late coming. Everyone I have heard of getting through got notified a few days ago at least. Ah well…..

    DSE

  209. Jill says:

    Hi Ice
Just listened to your music on your myspace, you are really good. When Simon Cowell can’t think of a good reason not to put someone through, he says they have issues of some kind.

    You sounded cool to me.

My son’s band http://www.myspace.com/thethrowoffs havent’ heard back either way, I think its real bad to treat people this way. Simon Cowell doesn’t see people, he sees ££££££ signs.

As I’ve said before on here, just carry on doing what your doing, somebody who really knows something about music, may be listening one day. Good Luck
    Jill x

  210. Georgie says:

thanks jill, i do agree there are definatly other ways of making it.
good luck 2 ur sons band and i will keep u ipdated if any news.
    luv georgie xx

  211. Ms Lain says:

    To DSE and Katie,

Thank you for letting me know, ref:
    “different location”, needless to
say we will be going straight to the Theatre, as my son was told, to
    go to the building opposite!!
However, I suspect that there will
    be plenty of signs/boards up.
    Martin is looking forward to
    tomorrow, I don’t think he’ll get
    much sleep, just too excited!!
    Ms Lain.

  212. me says:

i think i’m like Georgie. just upset to have not have even heard anything-either way. actually, to be honest, i was expecting a callback. OK, so i’m not the best singer in the world, but i look a little different without being a freak, and i have bagloads of personality.
oh well, i shall have to stick to science fairs.

  213. Georgie says:

yes, just wish i knew even either way!!!
its strange though bcause the producer said that i have a VERY distinctive voice and powerful one. mayb they meant that in a bad way??
just dont know, oh wel THATS LIFE!

  214. Georgie says:

DO THEY SEND U A LETTER EVEN IF U DONT GET THROUGH??

  215. pavvi says:

you will get a letter even if you didn’t make it. Most likely some time next week

  216. Georgie says:

HOW R U GETTING ON PAVVI?

  217. pavvi says:

I’m just on my way up to london now for the 3rd round thanks for asking the shop was quiet so i took the afternoon off. One advantage to being the manager!

  218. Jill says:

    Hi Katie
    How did you get on?

    Well, I hope.

    Jill x

  219. katie says:

  221. Jill says:

    Hi Katie
At least you got that far eh? Well done and you both should be very proud of yourselves.

    Jill x

  222. Georgie says:

i think thats it 4 me. heard nothing and this is the 8th april, the last audition date! oh wel, we r movin house and the owner of the house we r buyin is best friends with a record producer lol!!
so thats a door that could b opened!

  223. Jill says:

    Hi Georgie

    Jill

  224. Janice says:

Hi does anybody no when the 2nd round of birmingham auditions were?

  225. Ms Lain says:

    Ms Lain,

    Hi Katie, Jill, An Everyone!

Martin didn’t get through, not the
    sort of song for,
    “Her Royal Highness”, despite this
    Martin was very brave, performing
in front of 2,000. The audience
wanted to hear Martin more, and
started to shout, “No – No”,
    then the third buzzer went.
    Needless to say, the programme
    should be aired in June.
A good time by all, certainly an
experience that I won’t forget in
    a hurry.
    Ms Lain.

  226. Georgie says:

yes its been an amazing experience and i cant wait 2 watch it in june. im sure every1 will see a face they recognise and i know we will c loads od people who we have talked 2 on here!

  227. scottleopold says:

Everyone that gave it a go should take pride in their courage. Most people cant muster the ability to perform. Well done all of you

  228. hi says:

    Hi guys,
Just to let you all know what happened yesterday at the third round. We arrived at 10.30am . Simon and co arrived at 1.45pm to tell us that they were going to deliberate over the first audition tapes and then get back with a decision. There were 120 acts there and Simon said that they were only going to put 24 through! Needless to say my daughter didnt get through. To be honest I said to her at the beginning this show is about talent that is “different”. They are looking for variety. There were a lot of really good singers there who didnt get through but these youngsters need to go for X factor and not this. Anyway we waited for about 9 hours to then be called in in groups to be told that we werr either through or not. Should be interesting to see in June. Thats all I can say to you all is try again next year. Love J x

  229. DSE says:

    Hi all
My friend was crucified in front of the audience. He had a camel puppet and he was sending himself up but no one got that and it will look like he was serious! He says he got booed by the whole audience so that he couldn’t even hear himself. Amazingly, he has a brilliant sense of humour about the whole thing and is having fun with the whole experience.
My other daughter has put herself in for a bbc drama audition so had to move on quickly from BGT – but it’s been fun. Good luck to everyone who took part.

    DSE

  230. katie says:

    Hello

We didnt get down to the last 24, and although it was a very long and ALOT of waiting we met lots of lovely people and it really was a great experience.

Good Luck to the last 24 acts do us all proud

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  231. hi says:

    Hi
Does anyone know how Gin and Katie did? We were sat with them all day yesterday but we went through before them and we wernt allowed back into the holding room to find out how they got on. Jayne x

  234. Ms Lain says:

    Ms Lain,

    Hi Everyone!

    Re: Britain’s Got Talent!

I’m suspecting that a lot of “polished”, bands went through.
Ant & Dec, are really nice!
Sorry to hear about the puppet/camel act, please let
him know, that he isn’t alone
    in getting, “booed”, an act
came on shortly after my son, and they were really “booed”!
    In fact, the audience was
yelling, “Off Off Off”, they didn’t
get buzzed, the judges put them through so I’m assuming that they are still in!!!
I think Katie, will know who I’m
    talking about, as they were
    “quite an eye opener”!
My hubby was a little upset, towards the end, when all the acts were allowed to have their “say”, as the journalist/camera man told, Martin what to say and do,
(a lesson for him to learn me-think)! So if they show it on telly, please remember it is literally:
“someone elses words in his mouth”!
I know Martin is much more well mannered than that!

    Ms Lain

  235. Paul says:

Very disappointing and shocking way to treat people. I was one of the 120 and could not believe the audacity of the show carting children and even 80 yr old Jack down t London to be there for 10:30 and then tell us at 1:00 that they are not gonna BOTHER to see auditions. Whats more shocking is how some acts were told/winked they would not need to perform in advance.

I’m afraid guys what I witnessed yesterday was a ‘freak show’ – which I must add was my concerns pre-auditions. When I see kids getting their confidence smashed and whilst they then watch a jubilant group of 30-40 something silicone implant trannys get through – you ask yourself what kind of message Cowell is giving out.

I’m sorry guys but this show is not in the X Factor League – its a lax attempt to emulate the US show by Cowell cus if he didnt do it – somebody else would – and I think he just thought i’ll rush a week long version out just in case someone else gets there first and it swallows up Grease & X in the ratings this year.

Yesterday was all about free footage and exploiting peoples dreams

You’ll guess i didnt get through – but by 4pm yesterday – i was ready to go home and had lost the enthusiasm for the show – and being in a room full of freaks and 60% dance troups – that aint talent ggg

  236. penny says:

hi all heard nothing from the london auditions so guesse thats it, would have been nice to know but thats life, good luck to all that got in will watch the live show, sounds like the x factor maybe they want older ones not young children, read that simon not keen on kids lol. sorry you didnt make the last 24 katie and that paul had such a bad time, i expect the auditions will be shown even if you didt make the live show. so if they are look out for demi and tayshia they did hip hop, penny

  237. Paul says:

    Penny

Mine was the 3rd round auditions – the 2nd round ones were fine – they were weeks ago in Cardiff

It was yesterdays 3rd round that i went to

    P

  238. ICE says:

Tell you what though glad it wasnt just us that Simon I had a go at.
I know I shouldnt let it effect me but i couldnt sing our play for a month after the 2nd audition because i was so upset.

Ridiculous I know but there you go.

  239. Georgie says:

YES PENNY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RELLY NICE 2 KNOW EITHER WAY.
I THINK SIMON COWELLS NOT KEEN ON THE AGES OF 2-10 YEAR OLDS AS 14 YEAR OLDS AND AROUND THAT AGE R NOT RELLY RELLY YOUNG.
ITS GONNA B SO WEIRD 2 WATCH THE SHOW AS WE’VE ACTUALLY TAKEN PART IN IT AND R GONNA C PEOPLE THAT WE HAVE MET ON T.V!!!!!!!!!!
ITS SO NASTY OF THE SHOW 2 LET PEOPLE BOO THE POOR CONTESTANTS!
IT TAKES ALOT OF GUTS 2 GET UP ON THERE AND THEY R JUST TAKING AWAY PEOPLES CONFIDENCE AND DREAMS!!
IT IS SHOCKING AND I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A LOT MORE RESPECT 4 THESE PEOPLE. AFTER ALL, THEY DO HAVE FEELINGS TOO LOL!!!!!

  240. whydouneed2no says:

r u all really sure that we fet a letter, even if we dont get through cos i will get really upset if we dont, urghhhhhhhhh,i cant believe i didnt get through!

  241. Georgie says:

I THINK WE WILL GET A LETTER BUT WHEN?
THEY R PROBS MORE INTERESTED IN PEOPLE WHO R STIL IN THE COMPETITION RATHER THAN US WHO AR’NT!
BUT WE SHOULD GET A LETTER. SOME DAY SOON!!!!

  242. Paul says:

I dont think some people are getting the message

I was at round 3 auditions on Sunday where they picked the 24 from 120

If you werent there on Sunday you didnt get through to round 3

Its all over guys – they have their 24 and start fliming in 4 weeks

    Sorry

  243. Ms Lain says:

    Hi! To Everyone!
For those of you that didn’t make it through, it’s not the, “be all and end all”!
    Talent will always shine through.
    Look what happened to, “Mika”!
Simon Cowel exclaimed that he didn’t have any talent etc.,
“Mika”, was number one in the chart
    for 5 weeks!
Always look on the positive side,
if one door closes, another door
will open, more talent shows are on
the increase, keep living the dream!
    Lets face it, I thought,
Britain’s Got Talent, was a family
    show, but if they’re letting
tranvestites on the stage, and if
they win on, “The Royal Variety Show”, there will be more than one
    “Queen”, in the building!!!!!!
(Can you imagine her face, I don’t
    suppose she’ll be “amused”)!

    Ms Lain.

  244. Brian says:

I did warn you all from the start, its all about the producers and presenters putting together a show that makes them look good, and to get there ratings were just the puppets. They go to bed at night and sleep without a care and dont worry about the effect on the people they humiliated while the ones with talent who work hard in there carears find it hard to sleep for days or even months. But remember we are the ones who put ourselves in this situation so to be honest we only have ourselves to blame.
Theres more to life and as Ms lain said one door closes another opens.
    Good luck
    all the best
    Brian

  245. whydouneed2no says:

i gt ma letter tday,i am very derpressd as i thought that i had a chance! oooooohhhhhh wellllllll,i will neva give up

  246. Georgie says:

yes me 2, i got ma letter in post 2day sayin thankyou.
it says talkbackthames and syco tv would like 2 take this opportuinity 2 say thanx.
i thought that i had a chance as im only 13 and every1 has said that i have a really powerful voice, so we thought that they would put me thru as i would probably get better as i got older!
but oh wel, never mind still alot of ways 2 make it!
never givwe up thats what i say lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    luv georgie xx

  247. Ms Lain says:

  249. Ann Hill says:

Mrs Hill, said i think the way the children were treated on Sunday was awful they had been on the road from 4am Sunday morning and to be told at 10pm that evening they had not got through without an audition by two judges. They got through the 2nd audition and was told they would be at Wembly in June Amanda even asked them to perform Thriller for her and the children had been practicing 3 nights a week to get it perfect for them and then they had there dreams taken away from them i think the two male judges were indian givers Amanda told the children they were good enough to go to the Royal veriaty performance come on judges admit you were tired and give them another chance please

  250. Georgie says:

yes i did go 2 the audition in london.ao did u get thru 2 the next round?

  251. whydouneed2no says:

  257. James says:

  258. Georgie says:

YER IT WAS RELLY GOOD BUT I THOUGHT THEY WERE QUITE MEAN 2 SUM PEOPLE. LK THE MUM AND HER KIDS AND SUM OF THE PEOPLE WHO THINK THEIR RELLY GOOD WEN THEIR NOT GET THE SHOCK OF THEIR LIVES. BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS RELLY FUNNY AND ITS UNIQUE. I DNT THINK THEY R RELLY INTERESTED IN SINGERS LK ME COZ AS ANT AND DEC SED, ‘ UVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LK THIS B4 IN UR LIFE’. SO THEIR LOOKING 4 VERY UNIQUE ACTS.

  259. James says:

I was on Bitains got more talent apparently and I don’t have that channel so im realy peed off.I was apparently getting intervewed.Out of about A hundred people only a handfull got interviewed and I was one of them.

  260. CHLOE says:

I LOVED CONNIE WHY DIDNT SHE WIN BUT MY FRIEND SAID PAUL WON BUT I DONT KNOW WHO WON NEXT TIME CAN I BE IN IT PLEASE FROM CHLOE

  264. Ms Lain says:

Martin’s currently writing and playing new songs on his piano, he hopes to go on, “Let Me Entertain You,” BBC programme.
Once he is happy with one of his new songs, he will apply again, as Martin turned it down last time because it clashed with “Britain’s Got Talent”!
Hopefully you may see him in the future.
    From Ms Lain.
P.S, It is just as good as his other “Peace Song”!
    His piano piece is called,
    “Spark Of Hope!”
    (So watch this space)!!
    Ms Lain.

  265. Shannon says:

Anyone know who sings the version of Somewhere over the Rainbow played in the background after the first time Connie sang that song?

  266. Georgie says:

im not sure shannon. ive applied for britains got talent again. i know its probably not going to work for me coz im a singer, but whats the harm in trying for it again? i havent had singing lessons, but someone said that i need a singing coach and not a teacher. he said that i didnt need to be tought how 2 sing, but i did need to train it, so my advice 2 sum1 hoo sings but hasnt had lessons is 2 get a singing COACH and not a teacher. im glad paul potts won it coz i thought he was fantastic, yes connie was great, but its not really fair on all the adults to put her up there coz most people voted 4 her bcoz of her age. anyway she’ll make it big time.

  267. lee says:

i went on it and sung and i can sing
    simon but you cant

  268. kyle says:
