On tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent show, Austin Blackburn tries to win a place in the live shows by playing the musical saw.

“I’m hoping to bring a new sound to the world of music,” Austin explains before going on stage. “People will be amazed – hopefully. I would like to be a professional saw player, a sawist? Whatever you call people that play the saw.”

Blackburn informs the judges that he will be playing ‘You Raise Me Up’, explaining: “I would like to promote the saw as a proper musical instrument.”

Once he is finished, Amanda, Piers and the audience seem impressed – but Simon just isn’t convinced.

Amanda says: “I am stunned, I thought it was absolutely beautiful.”

Piers adds: “The thing about you Austin is that when you first came on stage I thought you were dull, but then you turn out to be musical genius – absolutely amazing.”

But Simon complains: “I could not disagree with the two of you more. What we have is a saw that sounds like a cat being stamped on.”
