A pensioners choir have spoken out about the treatment they received whilst auditioning for ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
The Ebbw Vale Male Voice Choir were invited to try out by bosses of the show and spent £250 getting to the auditions.
However, they were made to wait for seven hours once they arrived and only performed for thirty seconds before meeting the harsh criticism of the judges.
“It was a nightmare,” chairman David Jenkins told the Daily Star Sunday. “We were made to queue for hours and kept in a holding room packed full of people. Luckily I had told everyone to bring food and drink. If it wasn’t for our supplies we would have been keeling over. There weren’t even enough seats.”
“We had an absolutely horrible time,” he continued. “This sort of thing is not something we would usually do but we were invited, so we went along. The worst part was when Simon told our pianist, who is 72 and has been our accompanist all her life - that she looked like she was going to go through the piano because he thought she was too loud.”
David concluded: “It was like we were set up as comedy entertainment on this. If we are invited on TV again, we will definitely not go.”

Oh dear.
It is at times like these that I wish the television companies would get their act together.
As this choir had been invited they should have had priority given to them with a dedicated time slot and information relating to refreshments and rest areas.
They should also have been given advice on what to come prepared with if they were not to take advantage of any of the limited refreshment and rest facilities.
How the TV companies accomodate large groups needs looking into. After all this isn’t the X factor where thousands have to stand and shout about the glories of the programme indoors or out doors, BGT is supposed to be a real variety show full of talented people.
Unfortunately the more people have negative experiences like this will in future times reduce the viewers numbers and maybe even applicants.

Newcastle.
Unfortunately pride comes before a fall.
Yes it is a shame that facilities for all the choir and all the other wannabes were a bit remiss but it is a talent show where many others had only a few seconds to prove their worth.
The choir were invited along with many many others and were under no obligation to attend.
Sometimes you have to have a bit of personal responsibility. After a couple of hours waiting, if the choir were all fed up, why not just go out to lunch together and do something else instead and make a bad day out into a good one.
